Sakaemachi Arcade

Reviewed By LetsEatBKK - Bangkok, Thailand

One of our most memorable times in Okinawa was the bar hopping at Asato Sakaemachi. You may find lots of small local food stands and drinking places serving alcohol (including the locally brewed rice wine called Awamori) and different types of local dishes such as shell specialty shop, oden, yakitori, etc. We had fun trying many different stores over an evening, and had some good chat with the friendly locals. Highly recommended to visit in the evenings.

AEON MALL Okinawa Rycom

This huge mall is spread over four floors and has a range of shops, restaurants, a movie theatre, and even an aquarium! You'll find everything you need for a day of shopping and indoor entertainment.

I'm not much of a mall person but this one is different. I recently moved to the island and needed stuff from Nitori and Daiso and sure enough both stores are located here. When I first entered the main entrance I was blown away by how big and clean the mall was. There is a beautiful fish tank on the first floor. There are many great shops, restaurants, and a grocery stores here. I have been here a few times now and have walked all the floors and I think there is something for everyone here. I like Mont Bell and Bic Camera which are also here. The restaurants range from bakeries and fast food to local restaurants and fine dining. Once I was here on a rainy Sunday and it was a nightmare, so I would say avoid rainy days and potentially weekends.

Plaza House Shopping Center

Opened in the 1950s, this was one of Okinawa's first American style malls and is a popular place to shop and meet friends. Make sure you check out the imported European accessories from Rogers.

A small shopping center near the larger Rycon shopping mall. It has some high quality shops and a few food shops. I went there to pick-up a car rental at Sky Rent a car, and the car was parked in the basement. I had lunch at one of the shop, but there are not enough varieties to choose from. For eateries, is better to go to Rycon shopping mall just a walking distance away.

Beautiful place to chill and enjoy watching planes taking off/landing in Naha airport. Beautiful clear blue skies and fluffy clouds with the sea and beach. Just lovely exploring this island which is so near to the Airport. We drove to the island in the mid morning and it was already quite busy with carpark lots mostly taken up. One of the highlights of visiting this island is to dine in A Happy Pancake as can be seen by the snake Q outside the cafe. There are quirky shops and food trucks dotted around. We should have planned to visit at the later part of the day for a better experience.

San-A Naha Main Place

Close to Omoromachi Station, this large mall caters mostly to locals and is quieter than other malls. Visit over 60 shops featuring Japanese fashions from brands like Lowry's Farm and Opaque Clip.

During this trip, we went to 5 or 6 shopping malls, mostly Aeons which is the biggest shopping mall in Japan. However, we like the San-A Naha main place the best. It was huge, had many retail clothing brands not found in the other malls and many restaurants and nice cafe where we had a sumptuous lunch. Can spend a whole afternoon here. Also great if you have time to kill before heading to the airport as its near to the yu rail station. We stumbled upon this place after passing by DFS and was looking for a place for lunch. I bought sports shoes and clothes and some stuff at Daiso too. Highly recommended mall. Have fun shopping!
