The Mouse Mansion

The Mouse Mansion is a book series about Sam and Julia who live in a wonderful miniature world. In this Museum & Shop you can marvel at the decors, meet the creators (we are a small family business) and learn how the the Mouse Mansion was built. Books are available in several languages and we sell DIY-kits and Mouse dolls to take home. Entrance is free, and yes, you are more than welcome to take a picture!

My sister and I visited the Mouse Mansion in April 2017 and I always meant to review it and never did until now. We were staying at an AirBnB in Jordaan and passed by this twice at night when it was closed. We didn't know what it was, but the next day, when we passed by in the daytime, we had to check it out. Let me say without exaggeration that this sweet little shop was the highlight of my four days in Amsterdam. We met Karina and one of her daughters who helps craft the mansions and all of their accessories and they were both SO kind and welcoming, eager to show us all around the shop and to give us a peek into the lives of Sam, Julia and all their mouse friends and neighbors. I have to admit that I even teared up at one point because everything is just so adorable, innocent and meticulously and BEAUTIFULLY crafted. The creativity and detail is insane! My sister and I stayed for almost an hour looking at everything we could and we walked out with the English translation of the book, a tote bag and even the Sam and Julia dolls! I would recommend a stop in this magnificent, charming shop to anyone who ever had a childlike sense of wonder – and if you have kids with you, even better! I think my mind would have exploded with joy if I saw this as a kid. We love Sam and Julia!!! Thank you for welcoming us into your magical world, Karina.
