Dingle Crystal

Having qualified as a master craftsman with Waterford Crystal, Sean and his wife Liz came to Dingle, County Kerry in 1998 and set up Dingle Crystal. Dingle is n area famous for its rich heritage of craft and tradition, Sean took inspiration from his new home and transformed it to create a breathtaking collection of crystal giftware using Celtic themes. With six different and distinct patterns, Sean has become renowned for the quality of his work and in particular for his Celtic knots and circles. Visitors to the Dingle Crystal shop on Green Street, Dingle can view a stunning array of glassware from bowls to glasses, from candlesticks to vases, be it a personalised and exclusive wedding gift, a special present or simply a luxurious souvenir of your trip to Kerry, Dingle Crystal is a treasure trove for all.

Sean is a big biker dude with tattoos and a Harley...and does some of the most amazing artwork I've ever seen! He is also a great guy to boot. I have been to Ireland 4 times and gone here every time to add more pieces to my set. Sean was a master craftsman at Waterford - Waterford crystal is now mass produced, so it is no longer something special. When Sean left Waterford, he set up his own shop in Dingle. He has about 5 patterns (if I remember correctly), my favorite is the Irish harp pattern. I order a couple of glasses when I'm there, then about 6 weeks later they arrive at my door in the states, signed and dated by Sean. We were there last month and he now has his two sons working along side him and his daughter runs the shop. We explained to her that we visited every time we were in Ireland, and referred anyone going to Ireland to visit also. One friend we referred was shopping there on her trip a few years back and was having issues with her credit card - Sean and family helped her contact the card company and get everything sorted out. We were saddened to hear that Sean's wife had passed since our last visit - we have great memories of her coffee shop in the back of the crystal store. My Dingle crystal is a cherished collection, and I look forward to adding more pieces over the years.

We loved Carol’s gallery, we had to go back a second day! Her work is astounding, especially how she can capture the sea and skies in their beauty and enormity. Well worth going to! Bought her book whilst there. We were also lucky enough to meet her on our first day. Such a lovely lady. Well worth visiting!

Holden Leathergoods

Holden Leathergoods is an Irish based company located in Dingle, Co.Kerry. Conor Holden trained in leatherwork in London and returned to Ireland in 1989 to establish Holden Leathergoods on the Dingle Peninsula in Co.Kerry. The traditional stone built schoolhouse is located in Baile an Ghoilin , three miles west of Dingle town, overlooking the harbour. Here local crafts people , trained by Conor, create beautifully designed pieces from the highest quality Italian leather.

First visited 20+ years ago and make sure I go back frequently. Best leather goods I’ve ever purchased. Beautiful, durable and special. Well priced for the quality of product. When you compare Holden Leathergoods to mass produced designer bags constructed from vinyl-coated canvas and lined in cheap polyester, Holden clearly wins on quality, design, and price. Holden bags are crafted from beautiful leather with emerald green suede lining, gorgeous metal hardware that is functional yet subtle. These are the hallmarks of Holden design. The Holden’s are a pleasure to do business with; the care put into each transaction is refreshing and I have purchased in person and online. Great for special gifts as well. Nice to have something that is such good quality, handmade, and purchased from such good people.

John Weldon Jewellers

John Weldon Jewellers was established in 1997. Having trained and worked in Berlin, John returned to Ireland, with his wife Marcella to open their shop and workshop in Green Street,Dingle, County Kerry. The scenic Dingle Peninsula has been a major influence on John's large collection of handcrafted celtic jewellery, which can be bought exclusively at the shop in Dingle or on the website.

We always, and I mean always, stop in at John Weldon's when we visit Dingle. Why you might ask? Well, if you are looking for unique pieces of jewelry, then Weldon's is a must. He has some really unique, exquisite pieces in the shop that he never fails to create. My wife, and some of our friends we have brought pieces back for, are stopped and asked where they got a specific item. "Oh, this is a John Weldon creation" to which they hear, WOW, that is something else. Shopping here is quite an experience for as unique and beautiful the pieces the staff at Weldon's is simply terrific. They know their product and somehow they have a knack to know just what their customer wants and are extremely helpful in assisting their customer to find that perfect piece. Go, you will not be disappointed and you can treat yourself to something special just for you or a friend.

I stop here every trip into Dingle to get gifts to bring home for friends and family. Spend a bit of time, chat with the staff and owner. Ask about what's new (we happily were surprised with local photos of the area by an award winning photographer). Go!
