Church of San Blas

Reviewed By wsohara - Montreal, Canada

An absolutely beautiful, if low key, church in the heart of Nicoya. There has been a church on the site since 1544. The present one is ancient, having withstood several devastating earthquakes over the centuries. It has recently been restored to its former glory, so ignore any old photos you see. The church is surrounded by the town square, an active and exciting park under the shade of trees as old as the church. Well worth a visit to Nicoya anyway, but especially to see this historic site.

The interior of this 1871 church is far more interesting than the neoclassic exterior.

Iglesia de Sarchi

Reviewed By 855paulk - Lynn, United States

This church is beautiful. It is a must see even for a few minutes. It is in the center of town so there is an excitement in the air. Across the street is the park which I love to visit and just sit on the benches. There is HUGE Costa Rican Ox Cart in the park and at night the enclosure is lit up with multi-colored lights. It is a special place in a special country.
