The staffs were extremely polite and courteous. Shehnaz, at the front desk was dedicatedly at our service and went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. The food and the spa service at Khyber deserve special mention. The best hotel to stay in Gulmarg without a second thought.

I planned the stay as a treat to my wife as it was her desired property, she always wanted to visit and I wanted to make it special for her and same was mentioned to Burhan who was handling our stay. He made all arrangements as I asked and it turned out to be wonderful and memorable. Entire staff is very kind and helpfull. The property itself is located at an excellent location. It is worth staying at Vivanta if you are in Srinagar.

Reviewed By Yam0784We stayed here for 2 nights in the family room which was comfortable and cosy. One could see the snow laden mountains from the window on one side and lidder river on the other. Meals were provided and food was homely. The garden was super pretty. A big shoutout to the owner Mr Ibrahim who is friendly and ever-smiling. Personally, I feel the price of the rooms could be cheaper as the lodge is far from the main market. In general, Pahalgam taxi drivers try to fleece tourists which is quite annoying. An advice would be to go to Pahalgam from Srinagar on a prepaid taxi and not hire a taxi for the entire trip. Only local taxis are allowed in Pahalgam, so the other taxi is an absolute waste. Unfortunately, taxi drivers aren't helpful. I am hoping no one gets a rude taxi driver like we did. That was a big letdown of our trip.

The name of our first house boat was Shellanne which was built by Mohammad Kolu in the year1940.Later on,in the year 1944, two more houseboats came in to operations which were supposed to be the very first special class houseboats in Dal Lake. These two special class house boats were built by a joint venture of four Kolu brothers and they were named as Shabash and New Shellanne respectively. The four brother's joint venture consisted of Ahmed Kolu, Jumma Kolu, Ghulam Qudir Kolu and Mohammad Ramzan Kolu. It was in the year 1962, the very first Deluxe Luxury House boat was built in Dal lake which was named as Pride Of Kashmir which earned a lot of fame and is still a pride to the owners. Kolu group of house boat is an epitome of the family bond and as a result the management through the years are been taken over by the following generations. At present we are proud of announcing the largest number of deluxe luxury house boats in Kashmir. The entire management is taken care of by the management of Kolu brother which is leaded by Nazir Ahmed Kolu and brothers.

Reviewed By Vinay SI stayed at the Gulrose houseboat of Kolu group of houseboats. This booking was done online as the regular houseboats were all sold out. The house boat was quite expensive and costed me around 18k for 3 persons on MAP plan. Coming to the good part - the location is good, just across Ghat no 13, rooms are clean and comfortable, bathroom is clean and usable. The not so good part - The owners of this houseboat stay at Delhi and the houseboat is managed by staff and this makes all the difference. There is nothing like Kashmiri hospitality in this houseboat. For dinner we got Punjabi chicken inspite of requesting well in advance that we preferred local delicacies like Gushtaba etc. Breakfast was also not good with standard toast, undercooked omlette and poha. We wanted to try noon chai but the staff refused saying that it takes lot of time to make it. Even the Kahwa that was served didnt seemed authentic and was like the standard dip that we get in the cities. The houseboat does not serve water during dinner and breakfast and charged us 80 Rs for every bottle of water that we consumed at the dining table. I feel this should have been clarified at the beginning itself because even the most basic of houseboats serve water during dinner and breakfast and secondly charging 80/- for a 10/- bottle. So in short the houseboat does not justify its high price tag, there are several other houseboats around that are much reasonable with similar services. I will not return to this houseboat.

A warm stay amidst snow
Reviewed By Satodeepa GThe booking experience was quite smooth but it did take some time to check in, probably because of lot of people checking in/ out at the same time. The room was big, clean and comfortable; the best part was the bed which had inbuilt heating coils which helped us immensely as we were there in December when it was snowing outside, but at the same time the room being quite big it was not getting uniformly heated. The usp of this hotel is the food, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, the spread and the quality of the buffet was just amazing. During check out even after multiple calls when nobody arrived to carry the luggage we left ourselves and on the way realised our bottles were still at the hotel kitchen for filling. Quite a few hiccups which the management should look into still it is a very good hotel.

Reviewed By Sunshine00970633688I reached this hotel after my booking through Agoda and I had selected the pay at hotel option. Upon reaching the hotel the owner was like since you didn't pay through the app for the booking we have not kept the room for you. But then he had a solution for the issue, i.e. if we could pay 2100 instead of 1600 as per Agoda he can manage a room for us. Special mention should be made of AGODA also for having a very ineffective nil equivalent customer care support. Since we were tired of a 9hr long journey from Goa we said fine and went on to take the room. The room was very small, nothing like what we see while booking through the sites. The bed sheets were not changed after last use we could see hair strands on the bed sheet. Dust bin was not cleared and toilet too was not cleaned. The location is another bad factor. No good hotels or restaurant to go near by . And difficult to get an auto too if you want to go out for food.
