Wonderful agriturismo

marvellous place to stay 2 or 3 nights. Nancy is a wonderful and charming host who comes across as genuine and generous. The atmosphere is cool and artistic .the decor is so tastefully arranged . We had the whole place to ourselves, as the only guests, which added to our appreciation ( especially of the beautiful pool). The icing on the cake is the food - dinners prepared by Nancy or her husband are sumptuous, full of local super-fresh ingredients. Those dinners were highlight Of our 2 weeks in Sicily. lovely !!

The Agriturismo's quiet and peaceful location is outstanding. The host (Dottore Adamo) is full of humour and Antonio (Adamo's son) was very approachable, friendly and helpful with many tips of "what to do" in the area. However, the place was somehow tricky to find - we suggest some directional signs from Frigintini.

Beautiful and great home-base for SE Sicily

Reviewed By JUJinPNW

Beautiful agritourismo in central location for many SE Sicily sites. The hosts were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed a light dinner the night of our arrival and were able to do our laundry. Breakfast was a delicious and varied assortment of Sicilian savory and sweet offerings. The farm harvests carob, and the homemade carob cream was delicious. The setting is beautiful and restful. Large rooms with patios, and there is a pool. We easily drove to Ragusa, Modica, and Noto. Easily could be a home-base for exploring a lot of the southeast. Lots of information provided about area restaurants and things to do. English spoken.

Very poor experience

Reviewed By MikeH59

We had a very poor experience here. Of the 4 places we stayed at in Sicily this was the only one that was a (real) let down. We had booked for 4 nights but after one afternoon and one night we decided we didn't want to spend any more time there. There were a number of problems: - The house is right next to a busy road, which isn't at all apparent from the description or the pictures on Booking. We could hear the sound of traffic from our room, from early in the morning to late at night. - There was a yapping dog in a pound near our room which barked constantly all afternoon and into the evening, and nobody seemed to make any effort to stop it. - My partner came across a large dead rat about 4 metres from the door to our room when she went to look round. When she told the owner (Teresa?), she said that it was because we were near farm land but that poison had been put down (reassuring...). - The swimming pool area was scruffy and we were bothered by flies and wasps for the short time we spent there. It was in a sort of enclosed area so felt cramped and airless. Quite a few of the flies and wasps had ended up floating in the swmming pool itself and there was also a smell of cigarettes from people smoking nearby. Not a very pleasant experience. - Only one coffee at breakfast - no-one came to ask if we wanted another or if everything was OK. - The room was comfortable enough and nicely done-out, though a bit dark and poorly lit. - The only time we saw the other owner (Sergio?) was when he came to remove the dead rat and when he came to say that we would be charged the full 4 nights, despite the fact we wanted to move on because of all the problems. Neither he nor the other owner seemed particularly bothered by the fact that we were unhappy with the place and didn't ask at all what the problems were. They only seemed interested in making sure they would get full payment, which they did.

Al Casale

Our building "Al Casale" rises at about 200 m above sea level, with a large and fascinating panoramic view. The building, visible today, is the result of a careful renovation work of the old country house already existent from 1750 (belonged to "Donnafugata"). The restored farm, respecting the original structure and materials, is typically sicilian. All the farm is completely plunged into a private natural reserve of 36 hectares, in which you can admire the green of carob, almond and olive trees.

Are they closing up?

Reviewed By Creamy7777

We were offered a spacious room but the table and chairs in front of the room were dilapidated. It was our second visit of the place. Last year we were impressed by the great breakfast. Now it has nothing to do with the one in the pictures. This year we were surpised by the poorest breakfast we had in Sicily during our stay. Only croissants. What a change! On top of it all, the woman at the breakfast room was anxious for us to finish and leave as we presumed!
