Kemmangundi Peak

Reviewed By KarishmaV32 - India, null

We started from Bangalore around 8:00 AM. Instead of heading to Shimoga first, we went to Kemmangundi hills in Chikkamagaluru. The TH Road after Hiriyur is an amazing stretch to drive on where we found barren lands, greenery, mountain ranges and not much of a crowd. On the NH 57, we got into the Kemmangundi road. We reached the junction around lunch time and started looking for restaurants. There are only few restaurants on this road but mostly every place was closed. For our lunch we found "Food point" who had ample options but we settled with dal, roti and zeera rice and it served well for two. There is good view even from this restaurant. We then reached Sri Krishna Rajendra Hillstation Guest House point. This place looked cool for accommodation. 300 metres after this point, we started driving in a muddy road. We were unsure if we could take the car ahead to view Shanti falls and Z point, however we still went in. It was a bumpy ride all along (about 1.5km) and quite adventurous. The route got narrower and the car had to be parked at some point. We then set on our foot to discover Shanti falls and Z point. There were no other Humans in this area but a dog who accompanied us all along. We reached the peaceful Shanti falls where we spent some quality nature time, following a short walk in the direction of Z point. Since it was only the two of us, I gave up walking further. But the Z point is easily approachable and very suitable for a trek to the other side. So must try! We then went further up to view the Rose garden which is a pretty good spot for family, kids and adults. We viewed the Z point from this point, which was quite far. This spot also has a government run hotel and is available to book accommodation in advance. This is a perfect place to stay when in Kemmangundi as it gives you great view of the mountain ranges from the hilltop. We then went back to the Krishna Rajendra hotel for tea. They also serve variety of food. We left Kemmangundi around 5ish to reach Shimoga.

Bisle Ghat View Point

The viewpoint is a must-visit if you are in and around Sakleshpura. I reached there on a Thursday and that too at around 9 am. So the place was not crowded only a Pre Wedding Photography was going on so there were only 5 or 6 people other than us. Any place which offers you a great view and brings you closer to nature should be experienced without much headcount and so my suggestion is to be early birds and watch the ghat view and cool your eyes. Kukke Subramanya temple if few odd kilometers drive from here. The viewpoint entry is bang on the main road so you won't miss it. Park your vehicle properly as the entry point is at a road curve.
