The 10 Best Nightlife in Twickenham, England

February 7, 2022 Nobuko Falco

Twickenham is a suburban area and town in Greater London, lying on the River Thames 10.2 miles west-southwest of the centre of London. It has an extensive town centre and is famous as being the home of rugby union, with hundreds of thousands of spectators visiting Twickenham Stadium, the world's largest rugby stadium, each year. The historic riverside area is famous for its network of 18th-century buildings and pleasure grounds, many of which survive intact. This area has three grand period mansions with public access: York House, Marble Hill and Strawberry Hill House. Another has been lost, that belonging to 18th-century aphoristic poet Alexander Pope. Among these is the Neo-Gothic prototype home of Horace Walpole which has given its name to a whole district, Strawberry Hill, and is linked with the oldest Roman Catholic university in the country, St Mary's University, Twickenham.

Super friendly pub with excellent quality food. For a family of four, we ordered 2 fish and chips and 2 pizzas. The kids loved their food and we had a lovely time. We met the nicest landlady who made us feel very welcome. Will definitely come back for the Sunday roast.

The Turks Head

We recently had our wedding reception in the Winchester room at the Turks Head and it was simply fantastic. Hannah, the Events Manager, was amazing and made the whole process in the run up to the wedding a completely stress free experience. Nothing was too much trouble, they were very accommodating to our choices to make the evening unique to us and contact was easy through both email and get together's at the Turks Head. We were able to go in the night before to set the room up with Kate, the General Managers, help. Again nothing was too much trouble and it was a relaxed and fun evening. On the day, everything went smoothly with Hannah and Kate both present and available to us. We had a buffet, there was a wide selection to chose from and it was delicious with ample amounts to feed all of the party. Everyone commented on the quality of food. The bar staff were fantastic and good fun. I cannot praise the Turks Head enough and would recommend it to everyone as a venue for a wedding reception or party. The Winchester room has it's own bar, toilets, entrance and doors to the beer garden and so the party can be completely private, which was ideal. All of the staff at the Turks Head were fantastic, completely customer focused and a pleasure to deal with. We will definitely going back for visits (their menu is extremely good and the food is to a high standard) and will be telling all of our friends and family to make a visit. Thank you so much for helping to make our special day truly memorable, you guys are great ????????

A traditional local pub with a good real ale offering and a beautiful courtyard garden. Extensive wine and spirit options available. Live sports shown on SKY/BT.

I first popped in on a random cycle past on a very hot day when gasping for a pint. I liked it so much I've popped in (randomly, of course) several times since. I intend to continue such randomness. It's the best sort of local pub. It's not been (God forbid) 'Gastroed'. It's not a 'this is a local pub for local people'. It's just a pleasant, well run boozer with excellent beer and friendly, interesting locals; just as good pubs should be.

They once said I was the drunkest man in the town, all because I didn't have a house you see which left me with nothing better to do with my time and since the wife turned them all against me then what was I to do if you catch my drift. I moved to Twickenham after that a heated discussion about the cost of living and it was all busy after that up in the court so I went and talked to them. But that's neither here nor there. I went to the George the whole time I was walking about Twickenham and I used to called it the georgIE porgie about that Rhyme that they have now. LOL Marty the mouse and me went there after getting kicked out from that William Webb Ellis us the street. I have nothing to say about that. See, boys like me, we get a bad rap only for the fact that I don't have any GCSE. It wasn't that easy when I was the young man. The george has a great selection of beers that would poison the gut off you if you drink the way I do. Marty the mouse was saying I need to slow down but I was throwing drink round me. The whole place was looking at me like I was the man. I was the man that day. The good days are gone now with this KOVID-90. Really miss my life in Twickenham at the Georgy Porgie and watch the football with the drink in my hand. Never forget.
