The 10 Best Nightlife in Scottish Highlands, Scotland

December 10, 2021 Enedina Augsburger

The moody, romantic Scottish Highlands start at Loch Lomond just north of Glasgow. Comprising a slew of mountain ranges, this sparsely populated land is best seen by train on the West Highland Line. Mountains, lochs, bright heather and rhododendrons give way to white sand beaches and rugged coves as the train nears Mallaig. For a more active take on the region, hike the West Highland Way or visit the Trossachs National Park. Ben Nevis, a popular climbing spot, looms over the town of Fort William.

We booked as we were doing NC500 with our dog & decided to extend our trip to include Skye, so this hotel was conveniently on the West Coast on our way north. This hotel has recently been renovated & is lovely, modern and tasteful and also dog friendly which is a challenge on the NC500! The owners are exceptionally friendly, and nothing was too much trouble and were happy to spend time with us. We had a lovely fresh cooked evening meal with plenty choice available! We enjoyed some lovely drinks by the hotel log fire. In the morning after a very comfortably and peaceful sleep we woke up to an absolutely stunning sea view, and a lovely cooked hearty Scottish cooked breakfast! The dog treats in our room was a lovely and thoughtful touch!! Similarly the treats laid out at breakfast to keep our cocker spaniel occupied whilst we tucked into breakfast. Social distancing and COVID procedures were excellent and easy to understand & owners were careful to ensure good hygiene at all times. Payments by card & fast wifi available. Thank you guys, you made our trip memorable and made Stitch & us very welcome. We will be back for sure!!

Suidhe lodge

A stunning Victorian lodge, superbly located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, in the village of Kincraig between the Cairngorms and Monadhliath mountain ranges. This Kincraig self-catering lodge is equal distance from Aviemore to the north and Kingussie to the south and guests will love the traditional features, combined with 'old world charm' and the benefits of modern facilities. High ceilings and lots of space set this Kincraig self-catering lodge apart from other cottages, and the ground floor has two stunning sitting rooms, one with an open fire and the other with a woodburner, while both have big settees and great views of the mountain ranges from the windows. The impressive formal dining room comes complete with massive square table and tartan dining chairs, and is a perfect place for a special meal prepared in the lovely bespoke fitted kitchen just next door. All the bedrooms in this Kincraig self-catering lodge have lovely views, and benefit from en-suite facilities.

Fantastic house to celebrate our sons birthday. Very well equipped. Lovely log burning stove, which was fantastic as we had snow & frost. The walks to Loch Insh are so near the house & the views are just amazing. The owners are near to hand if you need anything & nothing was too much trouble. Hot tub ????????Having a bar attached is just the icing on the cake!

We had a wonderful evening sitting by the log burner eating the crab pasta (house special) surrounded by local artwork. Friendly and helpful service. We picked this place because it seemed the best in town for vegetarians (and vegans), but we were seduced by the sea food in the end!!

Having visited Stoer Lighthouse, we followed the sign for the Jammery, and a very worthwhile visit it was. Lovely coffee and cake, and very impressed with the “red stone” to signify the outdoor table hadn’t been cleaned. So good, we went back the next day after walking to the Old Man of Stoer.

The space is very intimate but that only adds to the allure of the experience. Matt, the owner, was able to set up a last minute tasting flight for our family who were just in town for the day. He was absolutely exceptional. He was beyond knowledgeable and accommodating, and he went so far as to change some of the flights to fit the flavor preference of each of us. Such a delightful experience that everyone should have while in Inverness!

Union Tavern

Reviewed By ScottCallander - Inverness, United Kingdom

The Tavern is a fantastic pub for locals and for tourists. With a log burner and good craic to keep you warm and happy during your visit, you really won’t be disappointed. There’s a good range of beers on tap, as well as a good range of whiskys to try. Bar staff are friendly, efficient and always willing to chat. I’ve visited with family, with friends and on my own with a book. I’ve been at busy times and quiet times and feel equally welcomed regardless. Quality pub. Point to note - under 18s are not permitted.
