Gandy Street

Find Gandy Street in the heart of Exeter, hosting some of the City’s most interesting independent , shops, restaurants, pubs, clubs and the Pheoniix Arts Centre. Harry Potter fans should take note, this unique quirky cobbled street alledgedly provided JK Rowling, who went to university in Exeter, with the inspiration for Diagon Alley. Step off Exeter High Street and discover a hidden gem.

I love this gorgeous street. Always visit it when I'm in town. My favourite shop is Mantis. I adore their unique handmade silver jewellery. Chococo's hot chocolate is to die for and I always try to have lunch in Coolings with one of their cheeky cocktails! If you're looking for something to do in Exeter then check out Gandy street's cool, chic independants.

How lovely to see a rural town with such an incredible number of independent shops.I met my daughter here to wander around for some retail therapy just after second lockdown . Catherine Hill is well worth the climb up the cobbled Street.Such a wide and eccletic range of things to buy .Great to see that these shops are continuing to trade and I so hope that they can continue to survive.I did my duty and tried to support as many as I could so completing my Christmas shopping.

Westbourne

Westbourne Urban Village is a unique shopping and food destination right in between Bournemouth & Poole. With a diverse selection of independent businesses you will find everything from fashion to food that you just won't find on the High Street.

Love the old fashioned feel to Westbourne village, seems like a close knit community. Lots of lovely cafes, good greek restaurant, old arcade with lovely vintage type shops selling gifts, bought a beautiful silver/pearl handled small magnifying glass as a birthday present for my sister, very unusual. If you go here make sure you go to Chocol8 a lovely cafe which also sells beautiful chocolates!

We happened to be staying in Wells when this market was on. A great market with lots of interesting stalls from olives and cheese to highly polished wooden trinket boxes. One of the best markets we have been to in a along time. We are already planning a trip to the christmas market.

Poundbury

What a delightful large new town. No litter, no graffiti, no anti social behaviour, no abandoned cars,no groups of moped youth terrorising the neighbourhood, no grotty and uncared for houses, etc, etc. Great mixture of building styles and I would challenge any detractors to name any large urban high density development that looks so great and is so pleasant to live in and visit. Lovely mix of shops and businesses.
