Stayed in North Cornwall October2020 for a week & just catching up with reviews. We visited the area of Minions twice taking in walks to The Hurlers/Cheesewring & the disused tin mines. We visited in October & had no trouble in parking. Not entirely sure if we did the circular walk or not, but we had great fun exploring the area.

Golitha Falls

Reviewed By HelenH771 - Birmingham, United Kingdom

Went here to see the falls whilst on holiday with our 3 children (aged 11, 11 and 10). Whilst they are not always enthusiastic walkers, they had a great time walking through this forest and we have some lovely photos of them in amongst the bluebells that were prolific! We also followed the river path and had great fun crossing on stepping stones and logs at various points and were very lucky to see some cows coming down to the river for a drink! Another fab photo opp. The cafe was fab! We had some lovely hot chocolates and whilst we didn't eat, the food that was being served to other customers looked amazing and would certainly try it out the next time! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Toilets on site.

Carnglaze Caverns

Reviewed By AyCeeUK - Burton upon Trent, United Kingdom

We visited here as a group ranging from 4 years old to over 70 and we all really enjoyed it. Staff were very friendly and welcoming right from the start and everywhere felt very safe with regards to covid-19, with social distancing in place, face masks, and everything being sanitised before and after use. We'd pre-booked our slot but had arrived about half an hour early due to the journey being easier than we'd thought, but that wasn't a problem and we were allowed in straight away. We were given hard hats and a welcome talk by the owner who was very nice and managed to get our 9 year old computer-obsessed son interested by relating what could be found in the caverns to Minecraft! When entering the caverns we had the place almost to ourselves to explore. There were lots of things on display on the first floor, then we descended the 60 steps to the main cavern, the best bit though was the underground lake that you could light up! After climbing back up and out and handing back our hats, we decided to explore the woodland fairy walk. At first it just looked like a small path around a patch of grass but we then took a turn into a fairy den and then up a path behind it and it turned into quite a long path to explore with hidden fairies, and dragons and even a little house to sit in! The path was narrow in places and there was a bit of an incline so I'd recommend good shoes! It was a lovely walk and really added something extra to the visit. After our walk we ate our picnic in a covered area as it had started to rain a little. It had definitely got busier but not at all over crowded. I'd definitely recommend a visit.

Porfell Wildlife Park & Sanctuary

Reviewed By Kanu14 - Yeovil, United Kingdom

This is a lovely family run sanctuary, not a zoo thankfully. The animals are clearly happy and content and our children enjoyed reading about their stories. It was a great way to spend a couple of hours and good value. How anyone can criticise a sanctuary that rescues animals is beyond me! This will be even better once the cafe and kids play area can reopen.

Siblyback Lake

Siblyback Lake, near Liskeard is surrounded by the striking Bodmin Moor and offers a great day out for the whole family Visit the new children’s play area overlooking the lake or enjoy the plentiful open space for picnics, running and general fun and games with the children. The 5km circular trail is perfect for walking and cycling whilst enjoying the sights and sounds of the lake. Why not treat yourself to a slice of cake from the popular Rock Hopper Café? Siblyback is part of an International Dark Sky Landscape meaning it is perfect for a spot of stargazing. Wrap up warm, cosy up with a hot chocolate and fall in love with the sky at night. Want to try something new with the family? The lake is also a popular fly fishery. How many trout will you catch?

Such a great place to spend time with the family.... lots to do including paddle board/kayak hire, camping, walking, cafe. The walk around the lake is mostly flat and gravel so is great for an easy walk or bike ride. Great cafe and an ice- cream shed serving Roskilly’s.
