Kaieteur Falls

At 825 feet, these falls are nearly five times as tall as North America's Niagara Falls.

We returned to Guyana to visit this famous waterfall as the flights were full on our 2012 visit. Even though reserving this 2020 trip 4 months prior, it was not assured until getting an email just 4 days ago that it was officially scheduled and payment needed to be made immediately! Weather is a big factor for the 1 hour flight in a small plane, as it is to walk the 1 mile 3-viewpoint loop, let alone take nice photos. This is just one of the many places in the world where you can wait for 5 days and you still need to get lucky to make a successful trip. Much like Niagara, Victoria and Iguaçu Falls, this 800' waterfall is special in its own way; here our small group, guided by an Amerindian, was alone in the rain forest canopy which extended in all directions including the long canyon view below the falls. Very pristine place to visit.

Orinduik Falls

Reviewed By CHINEE1961 - Georgetown, Guyana

After visiting the Majestic Kaieteur Falls, we flew to the border of Guyana and Brazil and we spent two memorable hours at Orinduik Falls. I love the sound of the water cascading over and down the rocks. It consists of a series of Falls with very cool waters. Very good to take a bath. Its in the Ireng River which separates Guyana and Brazil. It is a beauty to behold. The land around is very hilly and mountainous, so peaceful and beautiful. It a place for good relaxation. I recommend to everyone

Iwokrama Canopy Walkway

The Iwokrama Canopy Walkway is a series of suspension bridges and decks of up to 30 metres in height and 154 metres in length, located in the Iwokrama Forest. It gives visitors a new view of the mid and upper canopy of the forest and allows wildlife to be relatively free from human intrusion. At the base of the canopy walkway is Atta Rainforest Lodge, resting amidst towering trees and grassy lawns. The lodge provides comfortable accommodation with 10 private rooms, three home-cooked meals per day, and ample opportunities to explore the surrounding rainforest by foot, canoe, or 4X4.

We visited the canopy walkway whist staying at Atta Lodge. You could also visit the canopy walkway from Iworama River Lodge. From Atta Lodge it is about a 20-30 walk from the lodge. From the River Lodge you also need a 40 minute or so 4x4 drive along the 'main' (Linden to Lethem) road. The walkway starts from the side of a forest covered mountain and returns in the same way - as a result there are no steps that actually go up to the walkway. The walkway is about 30 m above the forest floor. You are likely to see toucans, macaws and many other birds. You may hear Howler monkeys but you are less likely to see them. The best time to visit the walkway is at dawn as the mist clears from the forest. To do this however you need to be staying at Atta Lodge.

This Bridge is usually used by the Romantic during Courting and sometimes Proposals. Unfortunately I wasn't on a Romantic visit but just couldn't help taking out a photo on this iconic site.

Guyana Botanical Gardens

Reviewed By mbg1968 - Washington DC, United States

It's been close to 50 years since I last visited these gardens. I wanted to see the Seven Ponds area and the memorial to the Honorable LFS Burnham. The 'kissing' bridge, fountain, and grassy areas enticed me to return to sit peacefully on a future visit. I don't know if the manatees are still a part of these gardens. However, that would be a treat as they were my favorite.
