The hotel was in a great location, clean, comfortable, great breakfast. We were on the top floor, not much scenery.

The staff Wallace, Paul, Susan, Valley, Vyphius, Blair, Demon & Howard all very friendly and attentive. The hotel was in a great location, clean, comfortable, lovely breakfast. We were on the top floor, no lift but the staff carried our luggage to & from the room, the room didn't have a great scenery so will ask for a front room next time. Will definitely go back.

Cara Lodge

The history aficionado will appreciate a stay at Cara Lodge, Guyana. It is one of the oldest and grandest structures in Georgetown, and is the best known and most popular hotel in Guyana. Cara Lodge was built in the 1840s and originally consisted of two houses. It has a long and romantic history and was the home of the first Lord Mayor of Georgetown. Over the years, the property has been visited by many dignitaries including King Edward VII who stayed at the house in 1923. He was of course later to abdicate and marry the American Wallis Simpson. Other dignitaries have included President Jimmy Carter in 1996, HRH Prince Charles in April 2000, HRH Prince Andrew in 2004 and Mick Jagger in 2005. This magnificent home turned hotel offers the tradition and nostalgia of a bygone era, complete with service and comfort of the most luxurious of hotels, all in a most congenial family atmosphere. Our signature dining establishment, the Bottle Restaurant, has been hailed as the best restaurant in the capital. It is open for lunch and dinner everyday, except Sundays. At Cara Lodge, we have worked hard to create a setting that is the perfect marriage of old world charm and contemporary comfort – ideal for the traveller wishing to experience a taste of Guyana’s past, and the business person wishing modern-day amenities.

Location Location Location !

Reviewed By 5pauliner

Situated on the southern end of the Iwokrama Forest , Atta lodge is easily accessible from Lethem or from any of the other Eco-Lodges in the region. If you are a birder / botanist / nature lover/photographer you will love this place no matter what the accommodation is like. Fortunately Atta Lodge has plenty of amenities so there is no reason to rough it. The friendly conscientious staff and knowledgeable guides really made Atta Lodge a standout for us. I loved that we had 3 nights there so we had plenty of time to explore the area without feeling rushed. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Loved the big fan next to the bed! We had very few biting insects despite some pretty intense rain one night. The food was plentiful and good with very friendly service. There are washing lines to hang things out and I'm pretty sure they do guest laundry on request. You can purchase frosty cold bottles of beer at the front desk . I do wish they had more hummingbird feeders set up. I think there might have been one but I don't think it was ever filled. It was something that I'm sure they would do if requested. We were just so busy and then would forget to ask. It also would have been nice to have a few more benches set up on the grounds . There was an angled bench which was a nifty idea to help alleviate birder's neck ! Even before the heavy rain and a large birding group arrived, there was septic smell. The septic field needs maintenance and/or an upgrade as there is obviously drainage issues. When the heavy rain fell the bathroom sink was not draining. If there were half stars I would give room a 3.5 . I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to others

Horrible service, they gave away my room with extreme rudeness

Reviewed By SAtraverllerCPT

I reseverved the room online at their website. Got an email saying they would send me a form to send in my credit card payment. I never got the form so 2 weeks before the reservation I personally called and reminded them. Again no form sent. Finally the day before I called to double check the room was ready.... of course they had given it up. At least they admitted to knowing about my reservation but they didn't do any thing to help. There are lots of nice hotels in GT so I just dropped this one and went to another one.

My Birthday Celebration Experience

Reviewed By Suzannelly

Was there to celebrate our dad birthday, the food was great, it did take a little time but it was very flavorful. Just need some fixing in the washroom facility right next to the restaurant also by the gift shop, the customer service sucks, inattentive waitresses and they seemed naive when asking for service, they were all on their phones just in a corner carrying on with their own conversations forgetting to serve or even check up, I understand if they were having a bad day, but still try to give a smile, and they need more proper training, as for the bartenders, they were quite perverted and the drinks were heavy on alcohol, myself and family couldn't even enjoy a proper cocktail, needs more consistency and a so called manager which seemed very ghetto the way she talked, it was scary, and a bit rude, I even felt uncomfortable with the way she kept staring at me, I think she's a tyrant to the resort I would say, the animals are all caged up and looked so sad, not forgetting an old man saying he runs the resort shouting loud towards the staff. Needs many more improvements, maybe a better management system would help. I hope my next trip would be a mesmerizing experience.

I visited this hotel with a group of Dutch people. The owner of the hotel was always available behind the desk and extremely helpful (getting taxi, booking restaurants, calling to musea etc.). The ladies who took care of our breakfast and diner were also very friendly and easy to go. The hotel has a great roof terras where we could stay and rest. The rooms were large and have all the necessary things you need in a hotel.
