I visited the gardens in mid May 2017 and was pleasantly surprised by the large size of the gardens and variety. There were plenty of flowers already in bloom and trees showing signs of life. Interspersed among the gardens were many fun art pieces that enhanced the overall feel. Behind the gardens is a nature trail where we both saw and heard many birds. We loved our visit and the sereneness of it all, and will be visiting again in the summer to see all the gardens in bloom.

The Tom Thomson Trail is a non-motorized, multi-use (biking, hiking and horseback riding), 3-season (spring through fall) trail between Meaford and Owen Sound. The trailhead kiosk can be found at Fred Raper Park in Meaford. Travel through the countryside and along quiet country roads to see some of the most beautiful vistas in the area.

This is a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere and an absolute must see! We absolutely loved it! It is literally right next to the parking lot and there is a historic mill on site as well as some museum artifacts such as the milling stones on display. There is a lookout for pictures or you can hike down to the bottom (not permitted in winter). We loved visiting in Feb. as it was stunning to see the ice and snow that accompanied the falls. The ice crystals looked magical like they were from a hidden cave or movie. We are definitely coming back to view the falls in the spring or summer and hike to the bottom! Recommend strong footwear for this site and there is a fee to be donated to the conservation authority for parking.

Almost inside a city, Indian Falls are in Sarawak Township, at the northwestern edge of Owen Sound. A one-kilometre walk through Indian Falls Conservation Area leads through ferns, trees and wildflowers. The horseshoe-shaped falls drop to a quiet pool before Indian Creek flows on to empty into Owen Sound Bay.Driving Directions:Follow the scenic Georgian Bay Route from 2nd Avenue West to Grey Road 1. Look for Conservation Area sign directing you west to parking area.

Had some time to myself. Went for a road trip from Burlington (Toronto) to Owen Sound as I need to get close to the water. Enjoyed my breakfast at the mouth of the river going into the sound. Great view. Drew up out north of Owen Sound and came across sign for Indian Falls. I had just been raining so the creek was raging and was over-running at certain places, saw a trout jumping up stream. The whole area is very quaint and borderline idyllic. There is a slight climb up the bank support by simple but very useful stairs. Slippery at certain places due to the rain, but worth the climb up. The fails are quite the view because it literally looks like a huge Caterpillar has taken a huge chunk out of the landscape creating the quite rapid falls. Hoggs Falls loop (connected to the Bruce Trail) is a fantastic moderate hike around 5.7km. The Falls are beautiful but the rest of the trail provides a variety of interesting terrain. We did the hike in mid-October so the foliage was exceptional but we will definitely come back again in late Spring. It is very hilly and the damp leaves made some areas slippery and some parts of the trail were boggy - to be expected at this point in the Autumn - so good hiking shoes are a must. As much as my husband & I enjoyed the walk, our Golden, Max, enjoyed it ten times more! It is a great hike and worth driving out of your way to do.

I was really impressed by Duncan Escarpment and frankly surprised that it isn't better known. Its an area with very diverse and interesting scenery and a lot of variation in elevation throughout; will keep your heart pumping. Trail markers were pretty good overall, never had any real issue finding our way, however I would still recommend downloading/snapping a photo of the trail map to familiarize with the different side trails. Some of the highlights for me included the fantastic lookouts over the surrounding valley, pinnacle rock, and the many striking limestone stacks. Ambitious hikers can combine with an extention of the Bruce Trail which will take you to Metcalfe Rock and then loop around for a 10KM round trip. I would highly recommend doing so if possible as Metcalfe Rock is very impressive in of itself.
