Whoever plan to explore Rwanda i definetely recommend the Akagera and Nyungwe if you budget is not too big to trek for gorillas. We did with Home Rwanda Safaris, starting from Kigali to Akagera then Akagera to Nyungwe and back. What a beautiful trip!! The game drive of Akagera took us in a real wildthought i mean, seeing the Elephant right at the park gate then few meters ahead getting stuck in a middle of buffalos was the welcoming message from the big five. We've seen a lot of animals and the driver was a good one at spotting them far in the bushes. Our night was at Game lodge which is super classic, the food and service we appreciated. Later we went to Nyungwe and pass on the canopy bridge one of my favorite experience the next day we tracked the chimpanzees at Rusizi side of Nyungwe. I recommend Home Rwanda Safaris because they had our word since day 1 to the end of the trip and exceptionally they brought me 2 bags of maraba coffee and i was like wow this guys are super super kind and professional. I was lucky to know by pure coincidence this group , I was just browsing online and dealing with Devine African Safaris was so smooth and professional from the first message randomly sent to them; they responded straightaway, sent an offer within less than an hour, very polite respectful and comfortable attitude and service. The meeting with the driver was as good as the organiser, Ronald is very kind, thoughtful, fun, professional and reflecting such a positive energy ... everything was organized perfectly, the site visits, gorillas trekking and karisimbi climb, couldn’t be better! A bit expensive due to the gorilla trek permission cost but worth it .. thanks a lot for the team , will definitely come back for more activities in the region :)

A group of friends and I visit an African country each year. Kigali was our pit stop for October 2019 and we needed a tour company to provide us with a tailored package that included navigating the popular tourist sites and getting to see the real Kigali! Liz and her business partner Claudine did not disappoint; their professional approach was second to none and we received great recommendations re tourist sites to visit, restaurants to eat and coffee shops/ bars to chill. Our own dedicated tour guides and coach service made getting around easy. Our first stop was the Akagera National Park followed by visits to the Genocide Memorial and Parliament Museums. A sumptuous lunch at the Hotel des Mille Collines aka "Hotel Rwanda" followed by individual visits to local markets and galleries followed. Our evening ended with a Kigali bar-crawl! An amazing road trip at the crack of dawn to Rwesero to enjoy the lake Muhazi and King Fish Beach Resort kicked off our 2nd day! The scenery was as good as the food! To top it off a bonfire was organised where we chilled appreciated the nature! The night ended with an amazing rooftop reception in Kigali while we rounded up our city tour on the last day and spent the final evening at the renown Piri-Piri spot. I would highly recommend Phonenix Travel & Tours as they showed a deep knowledge of the entire landscape and definitely provided a rounded experience for us. One thing the group unanimously agreed on was that a second visit was necessary!

Akagera national park is located in Eastern Rwanda on the border with Tanzania. African parks is currently managing this park and has done a great job with the conservation. In the past there were lots of conflict between people and the park but this was solved by fencing off part of the park and the introduction of community tours where visitors are encouraged to visit the communities and benefit accordingly. Akagera national park is a the only Savannah park in Rwanda and is home to several mammal species including Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Hippos, Kobs, Zebras, Bushbucks, Waterbucks and most recently Black Rhinos have been introduces from South Africa, making Akagera national park officially a big 5 park like it was many years ago. It is also home to numerous bird species in the several habitats which include woodland, swamps, lakes and Savannah.

We planned our own itinerary , so what was Most important for us was the guide. We interviewed quite a few former customers of different guides, and finally settled on Augustine. He got glowing recommendations from people who had been with him, and even so, he managed to exceed our expectations. He is immensely knowledgeable- not a single question we came up with, that he didn't know how to answer. He is totally honest and punctual. Whatever you agree on - is carried out to the letter. He is a great and careful driver. He is extremely friendly polite and nice. But the really impressive part is his concern for his clients wellbeing and pleasure. He takes enormous pains, with great interpersonal sensitivity, to see that you get maximum pleasure and experiences from your trip. We have been to numerous out of the way places, where we needed local guides/drivers, and have had some really good ones, but Augustine is in a league of his own.

I contacted New Horizon tours and services after seeing good reviews about their services and I was not disappointed. Emmanuel and Monica were good at responding to emails and calls and provided me with all the relevant information for my trip and were flexible. Their prices are competitive, and I appreciated that they provided me with accommodation options. The road trip to and from Kigali was with a good and comfortable car. Once I was offered my package, I was able to customise it to my desire. The highlight of my trip was the canopy walk at Nyungwe forest and when there I decided to do a 2 hour hike the hike in the forest (Umuyove trail) I experienced the rain forest in full since it started raining a little over an hour into the hike and we continued to the end. I highly recommend them.

I enjoyed our tour of the city. What I loved most about it was how enthusiastic our tour guide, Daniel was. We had a well informed guide of how the city came about, what each places were, what happened there and what to do around the town. This was my first experience having a tour guide and he made it memorable.
