Although it's a little more expensive than the regular cinema, it's well worth the price. It's got a number of lovely screening rooms wiry comfy chairs instead of normal seats. You can also get coffee and tea from their cafe and take it in with you. The staff are attentive and kindly gave me a student ticket even though I only had last year's student id. Highly recommend, a cinema experience like no other.

Staying with friend in Waikanae, this is a small and very intimate cinema. You are seated on two seater settees, welcoming staff and a wonderful array of bakery goods, coffee and icecream - what a great find on the Kapiti Coast (about an hour north of Wellington)

Embassy Theatre

We visited twice, the first time to stroll through the building (which is open to the public) to see its wonderfully decorated lounges and corridors, and the second to watch Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It's an old school cinema, the kind big pictures were made for with seating for hundreds, but modern upgrades in sound and screen. Comfy seats, stairs without railings so be careful, busy at the concession but quick to put people through. Bought tickets there ahead of show time.

Light House Cinema

Reviewed By Alipa50 - Wellington, New Zealand

This is a 30 min drive from Wellington city and feels very country. The drive is lovely with the inlet always in view. You can book online in advance and choose your seats. Seats are allocated so it pays to book early. There is plenty of free a parking. Arrive early for a wine or coffee and cafe food or take this into the movie with you. A lovely place to watch a movie.
