A Bad and Disrespectful experience.

A Bad and Disrespectful experience. I booked for the room well in advance During booking I asked for 2 couple rooms but the owner opted for one large room with a small discount, which I agreed. I asked for 4 people with a child in the group and went there with an extra head. I have already payed an advance amount. Owner disrespected me harshly because he was planning to scam us with a small room with a toilet and filled with bead's(only 3 and still not having enough space to move around). that extra head saved us from it and he was furious on that. We fortunately was able to book a near by facility with same rate and much better facility, We left the place with in an hour.. Two elderly women had to use toilet facility there so I never asked for the advance amount.

Valiyathayil was a blessing after a few weeks of hotels and hostels. The owners are very welcoming, warm and wholesome individuals who provided really helpful advice about the city as well as a good network of programmes too. The added breakfast, made by Sheila, was simply exquisite. They kindly went out of their way to make us as comfortable and informed as possible in Kochi. The room we stayed in had all the basic necessities, was well prepped for mosquitos, was spacious and comfortable. We highly recommend this Homestay :-) Thank you David and Sheila! Lovely Homestay for a short stop in Cochin

Reviewed By NorwichHudson

We were only in Fort Cochin for 2 nights so wanted somewhere quiet and clean to stay at a sensible price. Coconut Grove had good reviews and we can back those up. Rincy is a great host and has a lovely homestay. The room was very clean and comfortable, with my only comment being that it is quite small so you need to be organised. However, they are building 3 new rooms upstairs which will be larger, so I am sure they will fix all of that. Not sure when they will be ready but probably a couple of months. Breakfast was included in the rate and was a plentiful supply of dosas with sambal and coconut chutney whish were yum. All home made and many of the ingredients from their own garden. Location was great for the things to see and it was very quiet. Rincy also organised an early rickshaw for us to the station, and I know she will do late stays for late flights etc as well. Thanks for looking after us.

Very comfortable and lovely place to stay. The family owners Shalini and Colebridge took great care of us and are the loveliest people. We didn't just get to see the lovely sights. We also got to know the community. I would strongly recommend staying here.
