Reviewed By alexc754Next to National Parque which is filled with water features and birds, this hotel is a delight. Weekends they have a brunch buffet that is out of this world. There's a lovely pool, parking, friendly and efficient staff, rooms are spacious and clean, wifi is strong and uninterrupted, one could not ask for more.

Lots of things to see around Uruapan. National Park with waterfalls and fountains, Paracha, known for guitar manufacturing, Waterfalls at Tsararacua, Copper town Santa Clara... Tsintsuntsan...

Interesting Place to Stay for a Night or Two
Reviewed By Thomas_JeromeThe hotel is fairly remarkable, and photogenic. I'm not sure when it was built but it has a unique Alpine-Moorish quality about it...that I don't think I've ever seen before. The room I stayed in was (I wouldn't say airy, but...) fairly large, with high ceilings and a decent-sized bathroom. Mi Solar's staff was gracious enough, I suppose, though only a couple people spoke fluent English. I had a major problem with the low-flow toilet on the first night I stayed, but a couple of the staff fixed it the next day. My only big problem with the hotel was the noise, unfortunately; there is a thoroughfare right next door so that sleeping in in the morning or taking a siesta is not an option. I did not try the hotel's bar/restaurant, which is just across the street to the west.

Reviewed By womantraveler59The staff was friendly and willing to assist. The open spaces were very pleasant, and the location was excellent.The bathrooms were adequate with a large shower space. However, the bathroom walls and ceiling were in need of repair. I would stay at the hotel in the future.

A lovely, family-run getaway
Reviewed By jumpinjiminiiiI arrived Uruapan late on a November day, and had to connect with my family host by cell to make entry. Once inside, I was greeted by the patron of the family. After we parked my car in their private parking, he led me past the courtyard and the cats to my room. Small but tidy, sparse but adequate. Next morning I left early, walked a few blocks down to Parque Nacional Uruapan (a lovely surprise), then drove to Paricutin Volcano (my ultimate destination in the area). Arriving back that evening, I went for a short walk to the very nice and lively town square. Next morning, breakfast was a nice touch - fresh fruit, bread, granola, juice, and coffee. My wife and I are planning a longer drive through Mexico in the next year or so - Casa Chikita is definitely on our list of places to stay.

Reviewed By FERNANDO CWell, I must start this review by saying that I have never taken so many pictures of a hotel before. The place can be compared to museum or art boutique, there is so many pieces of "Arte Popular" best described as People's art. I'm very familiar with the region and the culture, it was nice to see that the rooms where having names instead of numbers: ours was Ziracuaretiro! I wont describe this place as fancy at all, it is super conveniently located in the heart of Uruapan, it is very affordable and the lady of the reception was super nice to us. As I said, I'm familiar with the Tarasco culture and I found this place simply magical.

Reviewed By FrancisMenorcaGood central location, good rooms, comfy beds, hot water, reasonably priced, quiet at night, nice dinner in the restaurant ...what more do you need? My only complaint is that when I tried one evening to organize a taxi tour (6 euros/hour)for the next day (to Paricutín and Patzcuaro) and insisted that I wanted to get away early, I was told repeatedly not to worry, that all would be ok and in the end we were hanging around in reception for an hour whilst the driver-guide turned up...not his fault, but the hotel's. On the other hand at least they have the contact with the taxi tours and I imagine that normally things go more smoothly. Organize it with more time to be sure. the national park on the edge of town (you can walk or city-bus it) is I think the best town park I've ever seen...just beautiful to wander along the fast flowing river, with waterfalls and wonderful vegetation.

Reviewed By josueveraazarLa ubicación esta muy cerca de todo, puede uno caminar al centro, al parque, a los restaurantes y el aeropuerto queda a 15 minutos. La atención del personal del hotel es amable, lo único que falta sería que hubiera servicio de refrigerios así como cafesito en las mañanas... Gracias por sus atenciones...
