Lovely hideaway off the beaten path
Reviewed By Joyce NThis lovely, rustic, little cabana is tucked away in a wooded residential area on the outskirts of Trelew. My daughter and I stayed in one of two self-contained, spacious units with a large bedroom and loft. There was a comfortable, spacious living/kitchen area well suited for self sufficient travelers to stay several nights. The bathroom had plenty of towels and hot water. Breakfast is not included except by special arrangement with the owners whose main home is on the property. With wifi navigation we found El Colibri readily, but its location is not especially straightforward. Of course, that makes it a quiet, peaceful place to stay. We rented a car in Trelew, opting to stay in this small town so we could drive to Punta Tombo the next morning. That was an excellent, time-saving decision, made easy by staying at El Colibri. Without a car, one would have to rely on taxi service. The hosts are friendly, congenial and most accommodating of their guests. We paid in cash with US dollars. We would return to El Colibri without hesitation.

Comfortable stay
Reviewed By Meilir JThis is a perfectly good (large) hotel in a central spot in Trelew, slightly set back from the main few streets (yet only 5 minutes’ walk away). Classic, old rooms – the key (rather than card) to lock the rooms an indication of the hotel’s age – but it’s nonetheless charming and everything works very well. The staff are friendly and cooperative, with good English spoken, and breakfast was good. Would recommend.

Amazing Historical Hotel and Cafe/Bar
Reviewed By BertiePMMI hadn't been to Trelew for several decades. Somebody recommended we visit this place for their excellent toasted sandwiches. Well... we got a lot more than that! In fact, I discovered that I had visited this place 52 years ago in July 1967 with my Dad. This place has hardly changed in all these years! It has an incredible ambience, with the walls decorated with dozens of old pictures depicting the history of the Touring Club. In fact, Antoine de Saint Exupery, the famous french aviator, overnighted here on several occasions in the 1920s. We loved the bar and the excellent service, and the coffee was very good too. We did not, however, stay overnight at this hotel.

Better than expected
Reviewed By Beatrice LAfter reading the recently written reviews, I decided to write one to get the record straight. Casa de Paula is a B&B, not a hotel. All the rooms are different, and I knew which ones were allocated to me. I spent two nights at different times. Because the B&B was full, for the second night I was given the window-less room. It was also cheaper. Since I was getting up at dawn, I didn't mind. Trelew is not a tourist destination except for the Paleontology museum which deserves a visit. The displays offers information in English. Its dinosaurs are awesome! The regional airport is in Trelew, and overnight in the city is often necessary. I was heading to Puerto Piramides in Valdes Peninsula. Paula was friendly, she even gave me a ride downtown. The staff was efficient. Breakfast was fine, but too many sweets for my taste. I got what I paid for. Argentina is a Spanish speaking country, very few people speak English in Patagonia.

Quiet hotel with basic stuff
Reviewed By JohnO201The overall idea was to find a place between Trelew and Puerta Madryn and this place came in handy and at a convenient price. The plus side was the garage so our car was ok. Breakfast was below standard so don’t expect the typical full continental one. We had a room downstairs with air conditioning which worked. The bathroom was clean and the room service came each day to clean. The downside is that there’s no restaurant so you’d have to go out and get your meals but they allow you to eat them in the dining area but not in your room. The staff was friendly at check in although it took them a while to find out reservation. Check in was smooth. Would return there again.

Reviewed By cleghornThe hotel is nicely located for the things to see in Trelew and also you can walk to it from the bus terminal assuming your luggage has wheels. It is straight down the main street on the left. I had a pleasant room, everything I needed was there. It has a most impressive foyer with a handsome stairway which was daunting - there is no lift. It is only a two story building. They took my bag up, I got it down now bother. The staff were friendl and places to eat are nearby and easy to find.
