The 10 best hotels in St. Brelade, United Kingdom

August 19, 2022 Vergie Nakamoto

St. Brelade, in the Jersey Islands, is home to several beautiful bays with golden sands. St. Brelade Bay is a great place for an active beach day—beachgoers enjoy canoeing, banana boat rides, trampolines and kayaking. Visit the Fisherman’s Chapel to see the perquage, a path from the chapel to the sea. Ancient law allowed a criminal to seek sanctuary in the chapel for eight days. On the ninth, he had to surrender or walk down the path to board a boat, which would carry him into permanent exile from the island.

Absolutely superb!

We stayed in one of the self-catering cottages a short walk away from the hotel - this was the first time we've stayed on this side of the island, but the pictures and reviews persuaded us to give La Place a try. From the moment we arrived, the experience was faultless. The staff were friendly and helpful, the cottage was beautifully finished and very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. The three bedrooms were fantastic - spacious and comfortable - and the toilets and bathrooms were very well finished too. The cottages allow you to use the hotel facilities, which we did pretty much every day. The pool is beautiful and clean, but can feel a bit chilly on a warm day! There are plenty of seats and sun loungers and the area is a proper sun-trap. There are even a couple of toilets in the area so you can easily spend half a day relaxing there. Watch out for the 'cocktail-of-the-day' promotions too - the mojitos were very refreshing sat by the pool in the Jersey sunshine! The bar is small but well stocked, and the staff are great fun too. The food is reasonably priced and tasty and there's a good variety on the menu that can cater for even the pickiest of eaters. The lounge is peaceful and comfortable too, and we enjoyed a very pleasant afternoon tea in there to celebrate the jubilee. There is a reasonably sized car-park at the hotel and the number-nine bus runs hourly from right outside the hotel entrance, so getting around even without a car is no difficulty. The hotel also has a mini-bus that can take you into St Aubin if you book with reception - it's only about a 20-minute walk, but the road down to the beach is a green-lane with no pedestrian pavement. Checking out for our flight home was always going to be difficult but the hotel very kindly took us to the airport in their beautiful Bentley, which was a real treat! Thanks to Chris the driver for that! I honestly can't recommend La Place enough. We've been visiting Jersey for many years and this is by far the best accommodation we've used. We're already looking forward to a trip back!

A Superb hotel to spend our honeymoon

Reviewed By Richard W

We stayed at the Atlantic hotel for our honeymoon during the first week in June 2022 and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is clean with great facilities including both an indoor and outdoor pool as well as a jacuzzi. We did not eat dinner in the hotel, but the breakfasts were delicious and plenty. The staff are extremely friendly and are happy to go the extra mile, especially Nathan (the concierge) who arranged somebody to look for my wedding ring lost on a beach (yes, on my honeymoon!). The views over the sea were spectacular and the Ocean View rooms are positioned to watch the sunset over it (the beach is a short walk away).

Very poor

Reviewed By charlotte_top_scran

My husband and I visited Jersey with our dogs, to stay with friends. We found The Old Court House via the Visit Jesey website as a dog friendly restaurant. I chose to eat here specifically as they had lobster on the menu. We dined "downstairs" in "the dog friendly bit". Booking was straightforward and we were even able to push our reservation back a bit after a busy day although on arrival we could see why as the place was pretty dead. When arrived the young waitress behind the bar was on her phone however, did quickly spot us and come off it to seat us. There was a wait to get menus, order drinks, order food and for our food to be served. When I enquired about the price of the lobster as it's POA on the menu I was bluntly told "we don't have lobster" with no apology or acknowledgement of my obvious disappointment. I opted for a sirloin steak instead. My husband ordered the chateaubriand with scallops. No steak knives were laid. My sirloin tasted like a cheap, pub rump and was cooked medium, instead of medium-rare as requested. I fed the majority of the steak to my dogs, enjoying the chips and my husband's scallops and ordering a pizza from St. Helier on the way back. My husband ate his steak but didn't enjoy it. The meal cost us £130 (without alcohol) so we weren't pleased. We weren't asked how the food was by our server when they cleared our plates and they weren't around as we ate, to be able to let them know our issues; we struggled to get drinks when empty for the same reason. The pepsi was nice. The ladies toilets were poorly fitted with a broken mixer tap which was loose and ill fitted and handwash jammed into it's wall fitting making it difficult to use. This could be a lovely place - it had a nice, cosy, relaxed ambience - but the food was very poor and the service was slow and inattentive. A complete waste of an evening and £130. We wouldn't return or recommend to others.

L'Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa

Built in 1850 by George Hicks, a colonel in the Bengal Army, the building has an almost Mediterranean feel yet the hotel itself is unmistakably British. The interior is calm and elegant, full of space and light, while the outside impresses with its beautiful terrace and the view over golden sand and crystal clear waters. We believe in taking things easy here, with a strong focus on leisure: something we like to think we are good at! One of the highlights of the four star L'Horizon Beach Hotel is the new spa, which includes six treatment rooms, a relaxation area, pedicure and manicure area and sleep room. With 106 bedrooms and three restaurants, the hotel offers the ideal setting for an intimate break, a romantic wedding and (as it is just 10 minutes from Jersey airport) an inspiring meeting venue.

Lovely Hotel

Reviewed By Phil196

We have stayed in several hotels and guest houses around St Aubin and this is our favourite so far. You will be met by extremely welcoming staff who go above and beyond for you and provide an efficient service. Our room was no.17 with large bathroom, powerful shower and slightly firm but comfortable bed. A put me up was available for our 7 year old. We had no issues with traffic noise and maybe a sea view would be nice but we didn’t ask for it so didn’t get one. Breakfast was excellent, fresh pastries and good selection together with choice of cooked breakfasts which were freshly made and very tasty. Special mention to Chris who picked us up and dropped us back at the airport. He is a very friendly chap and an asset to the hotel. Finally, yes the pool was closed but the offer of transport to and from their sister hotel was readily offered but not required. Overall La Haule has the kerb appeal and carries it off really well. Anyone staying in St Aubin should definitely consider it.

Spotless accommodation in a perfect location!

Reviewed By marthaaS3765UJ

We were originally due to stay at Porthole Suites in July but had to rearrange our trip to late May instead. It had looked like we would only be able to spend part of our week at Porthole Suites but Alex was able to find us a different room for the other three nights so it just meant a quick and easy move. We were due to move to our second room in the morning but it turned out that we were able to move the previous evening which was perfect. Everything in the rooms is spotlessly clean and of good quality and it was nice having a kitchen for making some breakfasts and snacks. The gardens looked beautiful but unfortunately we didn’t get to spend much time in them as we were always out exploring the island. Porthole Suites is in a perfect location for a selection of great restaurants and cafes as well as a small supermarket and bus stops for buses to St Helier, St Brelade, Corbiere and the Airport etc. We found the £65 family bus ticket great value for our week. You can buy it on the number 15 bus at the airport but only if you pay cash. We were given wrong information by our first bus driver who said we had to buy it in the bus station in St Helier. A couple of restaurant suggestions would be Lazin Lizard just 2 minutes walk away, the bar food in St Brelades Bay hotel is exceptional and it’s a beautiful lounge bar. Colleens at Greve de Lecq is a great little place and their banana cake was out of this world. The cafe on the beach at Portelet Bay does delicious pizzas and it’s the perfect setting whether on the outside terrace or at a window table inside overlooking the beautiful beach. I like the cafe in the gallery in St Aubins…nice light meals and cakes and the man who works in it makes for great entertainment without even trying to ?. We had a great week in Jersey and hope to return again in the future. If we do the Porthole Suites will be our number one choice.
