Excellent in every way

Reviewed By SteveSkisVda

Stayed for 3 nights during a cycle tour of Shetlands. This was my favourite of the hotels we stayed in. Most important was the warm welcome from the friendly and helpful staff, but also loved the great breakfast and dinner, the comfy beds and nice room, lively bar with Sky Sports and some good locally-brewed bottled beers.

Unique location on South Mainland

Reviewed By Andrew M

For a fishing. birdwatching, and or cliff walking holiday, the Spiggie Guest House offers a unique combination of all three. Located above the Loch of Spiggie - a large well-stocked loch that is also a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Protected Area for Wildlife Conservation it provides the perfect base for exploring what is on offer at a single near-by location. A cosy bar and meals featuring local Shetland produce can be enjoyed after long summer's days (when it barley gets dark). Don't expect 5-Star amenities - as it is simply not that kind of a place. What it lacks, however, is more than compensated by the beatiful surroundings and local charm.

Very clean, I recommend and I would like to go back.

Fantastic, clean and everything you want for self-catering. I lovely house with a spacious and well equipped kitchen. There were lots of little things that make all the difference such as a washing basket in every room and a strong hairdryer. And it's only £5 for a tax back from the town centre, if you want to go out for a few drinks.

Whole place to ourselves!

Reviewed By SueAitken

Although essentially a 6 room guest house because of Covid restrictions we had the whole place to ourselves including use of a well-stocked kitchen . The place is very homely and is not a modern designer location but it is warm and very comfy. The location is great with lots of nearby walks and things to visit. We chose it because it is only a relatively short drive from Sumburgh airport and was an ideal place to start our first trip to Shetland. There is a small but well-stocked convenience store close by where you can buy plenty of things for a self-catering stay. It's listing on AIRBNB is a bit confusing as the address is shown as Sandwick whereas it is actually in Hoswick. Follow the sign to the hotel and you will soon be there! John the owner is always nearby if needed and is full of useful local information!
