Reviewed By Willy VA very nice hotel decorated with wood. Swimming pool nicely located with sea view. Very large private terrace. Good breakfast with especially tasty sandwiches and coffee in pleasant space both indoors and outdoors. Staff try their best but have difficulty understanding English. Good air conditioning, Wifi and fridge. No kettle for coffee or the. Neat everywhere.Hotel zeer rustig gelegen en 5 minuten rijden van de luchthaven, taxi kost 4 euro.

The holiday village Casas do Sol consists of 25 mini-apartments and 1 suite. All apartments have a private bathroom and fully equipped kitchenette. The resort has an outdoor pool, bar / restaurant, laundry service, auditorium and party space. The village has a wonderful natural surrounding with an incomparable view of the sea and the island of Brava. The houses are built in Cape Verdean architectural style, respecting the environment. It is possible to access the beach directly from the village. The village is part of a social development project created by ASDE (Solidarity and Development Association) and all income from it goes towards funding social projects.

I stayed there in March 2016 (so date is not Fe 2019) During my short stay the only interaction with the staff was to ask for water and be told there was none. I attempted to walk to the office to see if I could purchase water and had to run back to my room because of the menacing dog that lives on the property. It seems this establishment is not accustomed to Black guests judging from the stares we got from their other guests.

Reviewed By proftouristAnd we loved it: the colorful building in a green garden, the black and rather lonesome beach, the pounding waves, the excellent food, the spectacular sunsets. We stayed for three nights while visiting Sao Filipe and the island of Fogo. As professional hikers we preferred to walk to the center of the city and back along the beach (2 km one way). Very often accompanied by one or two dogs of the hotel owner. The rooms are basic but adequate and most have a private toilet accessible using the corridor. Inside the house the colors are also warm and all is decorated with excellent taste. The restaurant is well known for its fish "cuisine", but should be booked in advance. Still, Roberto, the owner proved to be flexible and was ready to cook us the occasional omelet or some great pasta.

Aaron and Ellen are the absolute best - they were super helpful, friendly and informative and helped us make the most of our amazing trip to Cape Verde and Fogo in particular. La Fora is such a peaceful beautiful place and the food was all insanely delicious. Can’t recommend highly enough and can’t wait to return!

Very professional staff and very secure location with front desk security. We loved the dinning space that opens into a balcony with view of the ocean.

Reviewed By PurobiLiusa and her husband Vincent are not only hoteliers but humanitarians. Our group of 11 came here to provide probono dental care to the children of Fogo. We stayed for 7 nights and we were given the entire Casa Colonial Koenig. It is a beautiful home with a small pool. Luisa took active role in organizing our work. She and her staff attended all our need, at the end of the very long and tiring days, food came to us from the other hotel in real plates with real silverware. Breakfast everyday was at 6 AM as we requested and whatever we wanted, we got. It was yummy. We even had a cachupa dinner on our last day. Transportation arrangement for us and our immense amount of dental luggage was flawless. I will stop here but my eyes are getting wet thinking how much she and her regular staff did for us and for the needy children of the island. Yes, we will come back again next year. Thus is our home in Fogo island.

quiet hotel in very quiet island

Located in the very south of the city. Fogo in general is a quiet island. Walking distance from everywhere in the city. NO HOT WATER, VERY DIM LIGHTS. NOT ENOUGH outlets, NO MIRROR.
