The 10 best hotels in Positano, Italy

August 9, 2022 Alice Mieles

Once a vital part of a mighty sea power, Positano is today a sophisticated resort on the central Amalfi Coast. Moorish-style architecture rises up steep slopes that gaze out on the Sirenuse Islands. Smart boutiques, selling fashions for visitors to display on Grand Beach, abound in the village. And it’s a great base for exploring the area—you can easily travel by boat to Capri, Ischia and the Grotta dello Smeraldo cave.

We have traveled the world and Il San Pietro is the most outstanding property we have ever experienced! This multi-generational family luxury hotel made our 40th anniversary celebration something that we will always remember. Most of our dinners were at the hotel and between Carlino, the more casual restaurant and Zass, Michelin Star dining experience, the food and wine was incredible. We will definitely return again and stay longer next time!

Absolutely magnificent hotel that has amazing views of Positano right at the top of the main hill. It is a bit of a hike from the ferry port so make sure you don't do what we did and give your suitcase to the blue porters to drive up to the top! Absolutely excellent value for Hyatt points as well.

Hotel Villa Gabrisa

In a residential area, in the heart of Positano, there is located the ancient building which guests the hotel Villa Gabrisa, an elegant and refined hotel owned by the Rispoli family. The careful choice of each detail, just like Murano chandeliers or Capodimonte ceramics, makes every room special and the hotel's privileged position, just few minute walk from the beaches, wraps it in a fairytale atmosphere that every guest can feel it from each room balcony or terrace, which overlooks the sea.

Hotel Villa Gabrisa truly makes you feel like the most important people there. Very family oriented hotel culture. Claudia is amazing! Very informative about the area, and she gave us some great dinner and beach reccomendations. You must try the restaurant at the hotel, you will not regret it. It is so good, people not staying there make reservations days in advance. The staff is welcoming, accommodative and overly friendly. The hotel is beautiful, modern and we loved the little decorative touches. Not to mention, good location with only a 10 minute walk to the main center. Our room was truly a dream, very clean/updated/cute with a stunning view. Will be staying here when we come back 1000%!

Magical time in Positano

Have recently returned from a memorable trip to the Amalfi Coast. We stayed at the Covo dei Saraceni which was wonderful. Staff, room food, views to die for all exceptional. The only fault we could find was the bath/shower, which could certainly do with modernising. However, this did little to detract from what was an amazing break. We hope to return again to the hotel in the future and would most definitely recommend.

Le Sirenuse Hotel

Le Sirenuse is a wonderful place from which to enjoy the simple pleasures of Positano and the spectacular Amalfi Coast. John Steinbeck, who visited in 1953, wrote 'Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.'

Magnificent!

Reviewed By quousqueabutere

We could see the sea straight ahead and the Positano hillside to the right from our balcony. The hotel is filled with works of art, and the 4th floor could easily have been a museum gallery. We ate twice in La Sponda, and the food, atmosphere, and musicians were great. The staff was very friendly and soon knew our names when we had breakfast. The concierge arranged side trips to Paestum, the National Archeology Museum in Naples, and Pompeii. The hotel even has its own boat, and we enjoyed seeing Positano (and some dolphins) from the water. This is one of the best hotels in the world.

Honeymoon visit

Reviewed By 852ronane

We decided to stay at this villa for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon trip to Amalfi Coast and we were not disappointed. Peppe and Chiara greeted us on arrival and could not have been more helpful. We had an issue with our driver not being able to find the villa when departing so Peppe phoned him several times to give directions etc. The room was amazing and the view from our balcony was spectacular. We booked the London suite. The TV came with English speaking channels aswell as Netflix - something not all hotels on the coast offer. With Positano famous for so many steep climbs for beaches, restaurants, shops etc. we found the location of the villa to be perfect. 10 minutes to the nearest beach while a 2 minute walk got you to several restaurants and a shop. We would definitely recommend this villa. Thank you, Ronan and Carol, Dublin.
