Booked for 1 night with 3 other friends... 2 crashes on the motorway meant we were delayed. Phoned in advance and was told to ring back at 17:30 with an update so we can ''see what can be done''. Phoned back at the requested time, said our expected arrival was 18:10 and were rudely told we would not be allowed to check in as 18:00 was the last chance and that nothing could be done.

The Borough Arms Hotel and Restaurant is one of the oldest established hotels in the Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-on-Trent areas, with history dating back to 1783. The hotel is very much of the style associated with a traditional English town centre coaching inn, yet has been sensitively and subtly refined to offer the comfort and modern standards demanded by today's visitors. Independently owned and managed, the hotel retains many period features and takes great pride in offering a very personal service. As a valued guest, you may be confident that we will do our utmost to ensure your comfort, whether you are staying in one of our 40 centrally heated, en-suite rooms, visiting us for a meal in the restaurant, or using our conference and banqueting facilities.
Brilliant staff on the day couldn't do more than enough for us. Food was lovely everyone enjoyed it! Would definitely recommend to anyone . We had the big room for just our family as there was 30 of us and it was perfect!

Big rides, big games, or a big splash - it's all on offer at Premier Inn Newcastle Under Lyme. In a peaceful country location, you're still just a short trip from some of the region's best days out. And if you're here to work, we're close to key business destinations like Stoke-on-Trent and Hanley, too. Escape the office for some high-adrenaline action at Alton Towers. Watch the beautiful game at Britannia Football Stadium. Or plan a family adventure full of thrills and spills at Water World. And when you're ready to slow down, unwind in our tasty restaurant, and relax in your new, modern room with extra-comfy kingsize Hypnos bed.
We decided as a family to take a trip to Alton Towers and the Premier Inn was around 30 minutes away. Comfortable beds, friendly staff and surprisingly decent food. Will definitely stay again! Should we want another weekend away visiting Alton Towers

Stayed at this hotel with a friend and our children. We were visiting Alton Towers and this hotel was only 30 minutes away and a reasonable price. The hotel had an easy check in and the room it self seemed clean with everything we needed for only a one night stay. It is basic but for the price wouldn't expect much more. The breakfast however was really not worth the £8.99. There was only one type of egg - scrambled, and it was either over or under cooked. The sausages seemed like they had been out for hours, dry and tough with the meat sausages being in the same container as the quorn sausages ... seriously! The bacon didn't seem cooked and the pancakes were also extremely under cooked. There were a couple of cerals to choose from and yougurts: the fruit salad was either an apple or orange. All in all the stay was average but I would recommend not paying for breakfast and either finding a local cafe or going down stairs to Lidl to pick up a freshly cooked pastry.

Amazing new hotel. We stayed here for two nights. Great Bonvoy member recognition, I am an ambassador guest, and the reception manager(apologies, forgot the name) and front office team looked after us really well. We went to Alton Towers, it’s very convenient. Abigail, the reservations manager did her best of sending my wife’s phone to us. She left the phone in the room, only realised it when Abigail called us. I still haven’t paid any postage for this. Thank you so much, Abigail. I also quite liked the gym, it’s basic, but adequate. All in all, lovely service and brand new hotel.

Covid prevented us visiting family for many years, but at last we were able to return..and as we predicted after our first stay, Slaters was the obvious choice. Not sure if it was a good thing, but we were remembered and given exactly the same attention we'd received during our earlier visit. We were again in the 'cottage', rather than inside the hotel, itself and enjoyed all the amenities that provided. We ate in the bar on two evenings of our three night stay and were impressed with the new chef and his/her innovative vegetarian options.....thank you. Once again, our breakfasts were individually prepared, as per our request and we appreciated being able to dictate the timing, according to our plans for the day. All staff were attentive and friendly and it was comforting to see so many familiar faces from several years ago....that says quite a lot about the place. Crossing our fingers that we shall be back, next year.

We booked a 2 night stay at this hotel only to find when we arrived at the security gate that our reservation had been cancelled and we had not been notified, even though I received a welcome email from the hotel 3 days before our reservation. The hotel was now being used for refugees, we didn't receive any customer care/service other than being told that IHG should have informed us & it was the Holiday Inn's fault. I had to feed my baby at the side of the road whilst trying to find alternative accommodation (when checking 3rd party websites the hotel was still bookable!), this meant we had to spend more money as it was so last minute. I completed a customer care form but didn't hear anything back, I then rang IHG for an explanation and the person I spoke to wasn't even aware the hotel was no longer in use.

Came across the Victoria by chance whilst visiting the town and found it to be an excellent traditional local. Friendly atmosphere with a good range of drinks. Would definitely return to stay next time we are in the area.
