Poor management

Reviewed By 08rachel

I checked in the hotel at 3 pm for 2 rooms. The staff told me that they will call me and give me the room card once the room is ready. My brother managed to get his room card after one hour waiting at the lobby. Then I managed to get the room card at 6.26pm (after 3 hours waiting). How's the poor management of the hotel with 5 stars international hotel. In addition, one of the staff at the front counter was not friendly with the client. The toilet at Level 2 was not clean regularly with the toilet paper on the floor.

First Break Away

Location: The hotel is in a good location, within walking distance of the waterfront and Merdeka Plaza shopping centre. Lots of amazing restaurants very close. Our room was described as having a waterfront view although it was just about visible. Room: We stayed in a first floor suite. The living space was very big and beautifully decorated, the bed was lovely and soft, very clean and comfy, the bathroom was AMAZING. A huge deep bath and a powerful shower. I would say that if you're planning on having a bath, plan in advance, the tap is probably more suited to a sink and took a LONG time to fill the bath, but was nice and hot. Facilities: Its advertised that there is a bar open until 10pm, this wasn't the case during our stay which was a shame as the bar has a nice looking menu. We were able to leave our luggage on the last day as our flight was late in the night. Staff: All of the staff were friendly and helpful for our entire stay. The cleaning people, even tucked in my very old teddy bear. Breakfast: Breakfast is to be ordered the day prior via a very easy to use order form collected from reception. The french toast is absolutely gorgeous. There is one of those usually horrendous toast machines that you see at all inclusives although this machine, somehow managed to make the best toast I've ever eaten in my life. There's a good selection of cereal available too.

Good - Not Great

Reviewed By JSTrip_77

We booked here because we were visiting Kuching just as Malaysia was emerging from COVID and few hotels had yet resumed their service. The hotel is very convenient to the hotel and to the huge shopping mall across the street but the location is no ideal for the general tourist attractions of Kuching. And, while we did walk from the hotel to the downtown, riverfront area, there is no safe and continuous sidewalk so we ended up taking taxis more often. The room was pretty large and while somewhat basic, it had everything we needed. The water pressure was great as was the hot water and A/C. The pool was a nice amenity after long hot days in the sun too. Had there been more options in the riverfront area, we would have preferred to go there to find a room.

So glad I pick the Astana Wing as my quarantine hotel

Reviewed By nestingdragons

I opted for Riverside Majestic Astana Wing as my quarantine stay. From the moment I was picked up to the stay itself, the service has been great. I am currently still staying in my Deluxe King room on the 15th floor (the bed is super comfortable!). By all account, select the river view room. Each even the sky turns into a magical hue of oranges, the most beautiful sunset. A stay would not be great if not for the service. I would like to call out Amos Chong who checked me in upon arrival. His customer service is personable and with lots of attention to detail. He has the ability to make you feel like as if you're a returning VIP even if its just your first stay. Kudos also goes out to Ivy from the restaurant. Each morning she greets with such delight and would address me by name. She's definitely a ray of sunshine. I cant wait to meet her once I get out of quarantine. I definitely would be back and would recommend friends to stay here. For the two excellent staff, Amos and Ivy, I hope you get recognize for the 5 star hospitality you show.

Will definitely come back

Had a great time at Imperial! Room was great: clean, spacious, silent and comfortable. Staff was super nice. Just 2 things I would change: 1. They charged 15RM per hour for check out after 1pm. Maybe this should only be charged after a later time, like 2pm. 2. Once I left the room for breakfast, I selected "please, clean my room" on the electronic switch inside the room. Anyway, once i back, the room wasn't cleaned. I then stayed in the room for few hours, and when I came out, the cleaning service wasn't available anymore. They should have at least informed me!!

The hotel location is great with good views of the waterfront. The rooms are looking a little old now but extensive renovation work is underway which should fix this. My only complaint was the water in the rooms was not hot enough for a bath or a good hot shower. The hours for the executive lounge was also a little early 5-7pm I would have preferred it to be later.
