August 20, 2022 Lean Nau

Mount Stuart House is one of Britain’s finest pieces of Gothic revival domestic architecture and a popular visitor attraction. Interiors of the house are grand and elaborate and reflect the history and wealth of the Stuarts of Bute, who have been on the island for over 700 years. A quirky attraction at Rothesay harbour is the elaborately decorated Victorian public toilet.

Amazing weekend at the Cadillac Kustomz Hotel, exceeded expectations in every department. Immaculately clean, fabulously decorated rooms with everything provided from slippers and robes to make-up remover. Authentic American breakfast in the stunning Rockabilly Diner, where you really do feel like you've crossed the Atlantic and the rockin' Scottish Honky Tonk Bar where the good time vibe is impossible to resist. The staff made us feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble, picking the bits you want from the breakfast and updating us on ferry cancellations! I saw the hotel on Four in A Bed almost 3 years ago and just had to go, wish I'd done it sooner.

Glendale Guest House

What a lovely Guest House

Reviewed By Janet H

Still a bit cautious about going out and about after the pandemic, we were delighted with our stay at Glendale. We paid extra for a front room with a view, and it was worth it! Don't think we watched the television during our two days there! The view from the window was amazing, and so relaxing watching the movements of the ferries and boats, and people watching the people out walking. The room was adequate and comfortable. At first we thought the en suite to be very close to the bed, but it was actually ok, and the room itself was just the right size. Even stocked with shampoo and shower gel. Large towels, and a heated towel rail, which was invaluable for our trousers when we got soaked in the torrential rain! The host was lovely, so chatty at breakfast and helpful at advising us where to go and how to get there. Breakfast?! Fantastic - it's not often I suffer from food envy, but the fresh fruit and yoghurt that my husband had on the first morning, made me desperate for the second day breakfast, so that I could have the same! And the scrambled egg and salmon - just fantastic. Would I stay here again? You bet! And would I pay extra for room 1? yes! But there was also a large room for residents with lots of comfortable seating, and the same fantastic views.

Disappointing and one of worst meals I’ve ever had.

Reviewed By Cruiser582482

My partner booked a table at the Esplanade for my birthday. The waitress was very welcoming and helpful. We had a table with a great sea view over the harbour. We both ordered steak dinners which did not tasted disgusting. The steak was full of fat and grizzle with some parts too tough to chew. The baked potatoes, garlic bread and onion rings were undercooked. This is one of the worst meals I have ever had and will not be returning.
