Trip to High Wycombe

The team at the Hampton were great. I travel a lot with work, and you become used to moving through many similar hotels which are usually instantly forgettable. What initially made this stay stand out was the difference the team made to the experience. Corporate hospitality is a given expectation at any reception, but here Wojeck made the experience a personal and genuine one. Our stay was unfortunately overtaken by events but once again the team surpassed my expectations and were sympathetic and discrete, helping us to overcome a difficult time with the minimum of fuss. The help given by the Sales Manager, Marianne, was particularly so, resolving our reservation and administration. Their support during a difficult time made the experience much easier to manage and I am very grateful for it.

Bring earplugs!

Reviewed By karenalynn

It’s a Travelodge: good value, simple, clean accommodation. The hotel website warns that it’s a town centre location and there may be outside noise: I accept that. But the road outside is a short length of dual carriageway between two roundabouts, so vehicles are always accelerating away from one or the other. It carries a 30 mph limit, but kn Saturday nights it seems every “souped up” car in High Wycombe feels obliged to drive past with maximum noise until the early hours of the morning. With no air conditioning even in a relatively cool June evening the window had to be open: it’s the worst night’s “sleep” I’ve ever had in a Travelodge. Bring earplugs!

Hate the air conditioning!

Reviewed By clarisearle

The Premier Inn is the same everywhere (with the occasional difference of more or less noise from other guests). The beds are comfortable, the decor is the same, and the air conditioning is AWFUL - it wakes you up in the morning and is beyond individual control. We wanted to switch it off and open a window (not a possibility).

Wouldn’t book again

Reviewed By 730kingc

I booked 2 rooms for a weekend business trip, but my friend and colleague had to cancel their travel plans the day we were due to check in. Unfortunately her father suffered a severe stroke and was rushed to intensive care. On arrival at the hotel I explained the situation to the reception staff and asked if there was any possibility of a refund for her, due to the exceptional circumstances. I was told yes but I would need to speak to booking.com if I wanted to obtain a refund as the booking was made through them. I thanked them for the advise and, hopeful of a resolution, proceeded to make the call. The advisor was most helpful, fully sympathetic of the circumstances and agreed to contact Holiday Inn to ask they make an exception and cancel the reservation (I was informed there would be no commission charge from their side). I received a copy of this email the following day, which advised me to speak to the hotel directly as they’d not had a response to their cancellation request. Again I approached the reception with a copy of the email and asked if they could refund the booking. I was informed they had not received the cancellation request (despite showing the gentleman my email). He informed me that I should have made the booking with them directly, as they would have been able to organise the refund straight away and resolve the matter much quicker; it was ‘always better and easier’ when dealing with the hotel directly and not via a third party. He advised me to ring booking.com again. I returned to my room and rang them again only to be told the request had been submitted. Booking.com noted my frustration playing go between and kindly agreed to ring the hotel whilst I was put on hold. When he returned from his conversation with the Holiday Inn manager he was extremely apologetic and advised me they would not offer a refund. I would have hoped Holiday Inn would have been more understanding, but to be advised by two separate members of staff that to obtain a refund I’d need to call booking.com was blatant misinformation and a total waste of my time and money. I really don’t appreciate being messed around when there was no intention of a refund. Why was this not just made clear from the start? Overall very disappointing and I won’t be using this hotel for future business trips or otherwise. I certainly wouldn’t recommend to others, but I do recommend you address the information your receptionists give your customers to avoid any future upset or anger. On a separate note, the direct dials on the room phone don’t work and my food order was also incorrect, so not the best experience for a first time visit.

Peaceful

Stayed here for 5 nights as part of a work trip. Fantastic place, the food was to a very high standard. 3 meals a day with a big variety each day. The rooms are very nice. On the small side but as you would expect for a conference centre. However the room walls are extremely thin and next doors tv was clearly mounted to the wall my head is against. The staff are all incredibly friendly and cater to your specific needs if requested. The facilities are very good including a nice gym and bar.

Easy parking at the front of the hotel. A good sized room, with toiletries provided. A very comfy bed, black out curtains, but a noisy busy road at the front of the hotel. Staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us - especially Mohammed. Great value too!
