Guest House offering; 19 en suite bedrooms, Pet friendly Disabled accommodation, Hot/cold buffet breakfast, Single, double and family rooms.
Hans gave us good welcome and we had a good sized room overlooking the garden. We arrived by train and the station is just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. There was lots of choice for a hot breakfast and proper bread for toast. There was a open fire in the communal lounge which was good to warm in the evening up after being in the fresh air all day. It was nice and quiet no noise from traffic. There is a good restaurant next door and a fish & chip shop next to that.

Two of us on motorbikes doing the NC 500, although we weren't staying there we went for drinks, Donald the barman is a star, if you don't like sarcasm then maybe he's not for you, but he's a character. Craig the owner very kindly cooked breakfast for us even though we weren't residents. Cheers

We stayed here on day 5/6 of our NC500 cycling trip and it had everything that we needed: bike storage, drying room, washing machine, kitchen. The beer and food in the bar/restaurant was good, and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and clean. We had to share a bathroom; but that was fine. It's a perfect, stress free, setup for cyclists doing the NC500/JEJOG I would like to make a special shout out to the owners who were particularly friendly, helpful and welcoming. I came off my bike on the day we cycled to the Bannockburn Inn and suffered particularly bad road rash, cuts and bruises. Alison (who is a qualified first aider), made sure I had everything I needed to deal with my injuries and even offered to drive me to Inverness the next day if I needed (luckily I didn't). A big thanks again Alison! I will definitely go back if I'm cycling that way again.

Selkie House enjoys a fine position by the harbour. Both rooms overlook the boats etc. On arrival there were no signs about social distancing that we'd seen in other B&B's/Hotels nor was there any antiseptic hand gel. Indeed Lorna proffered a hand shake! The owner Lorna is very affable and helpful. Breakfast was good. I've never been a fan of shared toilet/show facilities so didn't use the shower. Our room had a comfortable bed but was full of nick-nacks which were mostly of Chinese theme not about the sea. The wardrobe had some clothes, maybe dressing gowns but this was not clear. There was NO Hand Gel in the room but it had a hand basin and soap. Lorna was very friendly but it has to be said that covid awareness was not high on the list.

Country house hotel set in five acres of grounds on clifftop overlooking the sea.
My wife said, "This is just like Faulty Towers, except the exact opposite." It is a real period Guest House, with fascinating pictures on the walls, and books in the drawing room. The bar is as cozy as a bar can be. Our room was fantastic, with stunning views of the North Sea. And Larry is the opposite of Basil Faulty. Larry is happy, funny, and above all, accomodating. And Florence is a great cook. It all combines for a most comfortable and enjoyable stay. Top tips: Ask for a bedroom facing the sea. And always have dinner "in" so you can enjoy Florence's cooking. The only drawback is a touchy wifi, but if you want to stick your head in your email, this is probably the wrong place for you.

For two travellers looking for a comfortable room for the night this fitted the bill, plus a good breakfast set us up for the day ahead. Our room and shower were not the biggest and parking would have been an issue if it had not been for our host offering us the use of his off road carport - which was much appreciated.

North Coast Cottage, approximately a 1 hour 30 minutes’ drive from Inverness, nestled in the quaint village of Portgower by Helmsdale. This one-level cottage has a private garden and boasts fantastic sea views. It provides cosy and spacious accommodation for couples or families and has been popular with those completing the North Coast 500 road trip.
Nice cottage with fabulous views. Bed was extremely hard so not comfortable for us, the other furnishings were good. Instructions for use of TV and general information could be improved. Small things which would make it better, no egg cups, no hairdryer and no shaving point. These are all items which one would expect. A pity that the area off the kitchen didn't have the washing machine and a dryer which would then have allowed a dishwasher to be installed in the kitchen. The above improvements would really make the difference. A bench in the garden would be nice as one could sit outside and enjoy the view. Portgower is a good spot for daily outings which we enjoyed.
