Clean, comfortable and friendly

Very nice hotel, very clean and has good facilities. We booked another hotel but it was disgusting so came here last minute and it was so nice be in a clean room. The pool is very nice and has a kids pool, it could have benefited from more water in the pool as it was difficult to get out of. There is a kids play park which was a nice surprise and my son liked to use it. The only downside is it’s quite a distance from town, we used Uber to get in and out. We needed somewhere that we can get hot water for bottles and all the places closer we’re unable to provide this, this hotel has a coffee machine so was perfect for us. There was however no ice or fridge so struggled if we wanted cold drinks. They did have drinks for sale at reception but the fridge wasn’t working either so they were warm. Breakfast wasn’t great from a veggie point of view so not much for us. There is an Applebys next door with a kids play frame so we went there for lunch one day and staff were friendly.

Only for those who appreciate historic and cultural hotels

We thought the hotel was beautiful and appreciated that it kept the charm of its heyday. If you are a person who needs a microwave, fridge, coffee pot, etc. you're in the wrong type of hotel offering. There was internet and TV, however! We had a 2 room suite with our good friends that had a connecting sitting room. The tiling and furniture is "old school" and quaint. There is a lovely view on the rooftop--wish they had put some chairs up there. We did not try the restaurant but did go the the Irish Pub for drinks on the premises. Very nice. The hotel location is great but I wouldn't want a room facing the square due to loud music. I wish they wouldn't have glued down this giant vase on the bathroom tiled counter--right in the middle! I need room for all my junk, ha! Also, staff liked to talk loudly early right outside our room as we were at the top of a staircase. All in all, a lovely get away!

Nice Hotel, Best Location

The location on the active Jardin was terrific. It was close to lots of restaurants and all the sites we wanted to see. Staff was friendly. Rooms were lovely, well-appointed and clean. The included Breakfast is provided by the restaurant next door and was very good with good service. If you need to depart before the 9am restaurant opening the hotel will arrange for coffee and breakfast items from the Starbucks next door. I was in an orthopedic boot. Although not too bad, there are stairs from the lobby to the elevator and steps down then up again to get from the elevator to the room. Also, the staff warned us that because of electric water heaters you may have to wait 10-15 minutes between showers. We were able to work around this, so it wasn’t a problem for us.

Hard to fault

Reviewed By Q3698ITpault

What a delightful and adorable little hotel. For the price a very very difficult place to fault. Without doubt the best place to stay in Guanajuato. Do yourself a favour and avoid the town centre hotels and the unrelenting mariachi bands. The 15 minute walk is a small price to pay for the peace and tranquillity this place offers. Superb staff from the maids to the managerial ..and everyone in between. Whilst it’s obviously a new build in traditional style it has a real old fashioned vibe that is rare these days….not to mention the most delicious home made pillow chocolates I’ve ever tasted…and I’ve tasted more than a few!

Perfect 300-year hotel

Reviewed By 817edaz

When I first saw La Casona de Don Lucas connected to all the buildings on a long block in Guanajuato, I thought good location. Little did I know this 300 year old building was going to be one of the loveliest hotels I'd ever known. I'd prepaid for a junior suite and signed in easily without a lot of pressure to take me to my room. So I climbed up a wide staircase from another century, and opened the door. In this hotel, designed for another time, my junior suite had on floor with a balcony overlooking Centro Historic, and a flight of stairs going up to a second floor with a dining area and two more queen beds. My junior suite was a duplex. which could have slept 6 people

Hospitality & Charm

Reviewed By jnholly

Casa Zuniga is warm, welcoming, and comfortable. The location is great as it's a short funicular ride (or walk, if you're up for it) to the center of town at the bottom of the hill. It's also conveniently located next to the Papila Monument which makes it easy to catch a cab to or from the place, if needed. I stayed in the Morgan room, which was spacious and had a beautiful view. The place is absolutely spotless. And the homemade breakfasts were delicious. Rick and Carmen are incredibly welcoming hosts who want to share their love of Guanajuato with their guests.

Worst night in a hotel!

Reviewed By 288arturof

If you end up in a room facing the street, as we did, prepare for a sleepless night! The noise from the street is unbearable. We called the front desk and asked to switch rooms and were told we needed to come down to the desk (as if they don't what is available) and if there were any vacant rooms in other areas of the hotel would be charged extra. Staff is completely unsuportive, "all of downtown hotels are like this" is the standard answer
