Stayed in one of the bear huts at Highland Bear lodge and am very glad that I did. The host had made arriving and checking in a seamless experience with plenty of detail via email beforehand and plenty on arrival. The surroundings are really out of this world, well kept and in tune with the locality. The hut was very comfortable, with everything you could possibly need to hand. I’ll be booking again here without a doubt, I could sit outside at the table for ever and a day. Bed comfy, electric kettle, tv, shower, wc, cooking rings, bbq, fridge, heating… all in a bear hut. Most importantly… nature and peace!

Worst dining experience i have ever had

Reviewed By CatherineB1981

Do not eat in this hotel restaurant!!! Greeted by we presume manager who did not seem to know what he was doing. We asked what soup of day was and had to check. The menu printed on the website is not the menu available in restaurant. Online gives a variety of choice and this was not the case. Was a run down, cramped dining area. Glasses were dirty. Cutlery missing, water bottle grubby and over flowed would spill if attempted to open. We ordered mac and cheese. Came with an over cooked garlic bread slice too burnt and stale to eat. Mac and cheese had no flavour at all, even after adding salt which barely came out of the blocked salt pot!! After a few mouthfuls i noticed a bug, which was a small wasp on my food!! I had to go into the kitchen myself to get someones attention and the manager handed me back the bowl and said its a wasp it must have flown in after been served! Firstly i would notice a wasp flying on my food, and secondly it was dead so how would it fly!!!! There was no apology. We refused to pay for the two mac and cheeses and after seeing a dead insect is put off my husband who couldn't stomach trying his. Waitress had to come and apologise as manager stayed out of the way!! Waitress was very nice and it wasn't her fault. Manager and kitchen staff should be ashamed to work there. There is a serious lack of customer service in the restaurant. Anyone eating there in future should avoid it!

Great for a few days stay.

We stayed with Shirley and Stuart at the Springburn B&B - the room was small but very comfortable with a large separate bathroom for our sole use. We were welcomed like family members and could not fault their hospitality, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Good parking facilities and easy walking distance to village centre and attractions. We will definitely be staying again.

Loch Ness Glamping

Glamping is glamorous camping. The site is set in Glenurquhart by Loch Ness close to the beautiful Glen Affric. Glamping is the ideal compromise between camping and luxury accommodation. The accommodation units are called Armadillas and have full en suite facilities, underfloor heating TV, DVD, iPod dock, fridge and a fantastic view. Breakfast is available for those who are not into making it themselves. The area is a haven for walking and cycling.

Best Glamping Experience Ever!

Reviewed By Ksimpson1992

These guys accommodated for my wife and I literally last minute, as we were badly let down by another place in the area. It was however a total blessing as the time we had here was amazing - and we both feel that it was easily the best experience we’ve ever had at a glamping site. The site is incredible, has everything that you need - the ping pong room and friendly horse are definitely added bonuses. The pods themselves are amazing - heated floors, a great en-suite shower room which we used and it was perfect. Really friendly and welcoming family, and really couldn’t recommend staying here enough if you’re around Inverness. The quality of the bed is just top notch and they really go above and beyond with the facilities and extras that they supply for you. Legends! Kenny and Claire.

Loch Ness Clansman Hotel

Another great break.

Reviewed By ianfieldingzzr

My 4th visit and again not disappointed. A fantastic setting, good food and drink and not over priced. But the best bit is the staff that make it work. Nothing too much trouble. Three little things not quite right with the room, told Adam (manager) all put right next day whilst I was out. The team doing the bar and tending table were all helpful and efficient and don't forget behind the scenes in the food and preparation, all top notch. It's only a 3 star hotel but the service is 5. I guess tips jars are out of fashion now it's all payment by card but I left them a tip when checking out anyway they disserved it. I would definitely recommend and don't forget having the loch Ness boat trip a walk away beats driving for the experience.

Loch Ness Lodge Hotel

Our 50 bedroom hotel is fully booked most nights during the summer months and caters to all clientele: families, couples, groups, and those traveling on business. We have an extremely popular restaurant which serves an a la carte menu filled with wonderful Scottish cuisine. Our Pibroch Whisky Bar has an extensive choice of whiskies, Scottish gins, and has a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a relaxing evening in. There is a Loch Ness museum on the hotel grounds and Nessie Hunter Cruises on Loch Ness, which depart from the hotel complex hourly.

Dusty, musty smelling bedroom, not worth the money

Reviewed By Stephen W

The hotel is old, dated, room smelt of being damp and not aired. Given two throw away cups for hot drinks, 1 tea bag, 1 sachet of coffee, 1 sugar and two milks, but NO spoons. The kettle electric lead was too short and had to balance it on the edge of the counter. Bed uncomfortable, no bath towels only hand towels. No disabled parking. No lift. The bar was closed at 10pm due to having no staff. Walks thin so one could hear the next room’s television. The male staff member was rude, ignorant and arrogant. The only saving grace was that the chef served very good food food. Definitely not three stars, definitely not worth the monies. Definitely not going back…..

Loch Ness Drumnadrochit Hotel

The monster can't be that far away from this hotel set next to the Loch Ness Centre & Exhibition. You can even go looking for it in the summer with hourly cruises across the Loch. The Centre also has lots of shops including the Nessie Shop and the Whisky Shop. At the Loch Ness Bistro you can enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal made from the finest locally sourced produce and ingredients, with spectacular views providing a beautiful backdrop. Back at your room at Drumnadrochit Hotel Loch Ness, you'll get a flat-screen TV, a hairdryer, and tea and coffee making facilities.

The most disappointing breakfast in a two week trip visiting Scotland.

Reviewed By P1599KNchelseam

My other half and I spent almost 2 weeks travelling around Scotland. We visited Loch Ness and popped in to the loch Ness bistro for a nice big hearty breakfast to set us up for the day and to our disappointment the menu was mega over priced compared to breakfast we've had all over Scotland on our trip so far. A cooked breakfast was £10 so naturally we decided to go for something that wouldn't cost over £20 for breakfast which is just daylight robbery purely because of the word 'loch Ness' in the name. We chose a sausage filled roll and 2 eggs on toast. It was so so disappointing as you can see from the image. It looks like a pathetic kids portion, not a full grown adult breakfast option, at least give 2 slices of toast for goodness sake. Avoid here and just drive a little further to Inverness and get a good priced full breakfast ? Will definitely not be returning here or recommending.

Perfect Afternoon Tea

Reviewed By leslie_mary_2021

We found the Glenurquhart House Hotel when we searched through a gift voucher booklet to book an Afternoon Tea for two, otherwise we would have probably never found this hidden gem. The Hotel lies on a hillside overlooking the river Enrick. It is a cozy, quiet set of buildings, surrounded by several little outdoor spaces and benches where you can sit and enjoy the view. Two ladies warmly welcomed us when we arrived, and served us a generous Afternoon Tea, including one of the best teas we have ever had. We spent nearly three hours in the Tearoom while the Restaurant was prepared for dinner in the next room. It felt very much like staying at a traditional scottish Inn from an old movie. We absolutely loved it.

Avoid!

Reviewed By JulesA73

On arrival it looked really run down and I wasn't sure where we were supposed to go. There are no staff on site so you literally have to search for the room, luckily ours did have a door number but not all of the rooms did. We had a quadruple room, each of the beds were falling apart and we have to knock them back together. My 10yr old climbed up on to the top bunk only to find the safety tail was loose. The sheets were not clean, lots of grit at the feet end of the beds so clearly not changed in between guests. There was a telly in the room but it didn't work. The next morning I was up early to shower before leaving but there was no hot water, due to there being no staff on site this was not sorted before we checked out. I've stayed in many hostels and really do not expect much more than the basics but this was well below standard. I'm sure there are many other places to stay in the area that would be far better.

My self and my grown up son spent a night here in separate bedrooms and we both remarked on how comfortable the beds were, the bathrooms were clean. Gillian(the owner) was very welcoming and showed us around the kitchen and the lounge explaining how it was self catering and to feel free to use all the facilities. Next visit is being planned with the hope to use CLUNEBEG Lodge as our base. Very good value for money.
