Non golf stay

Reviewed By Jeremy m

This hotel is definitely geared up for golfers. We stayed for 3 nights and each evening there were large groups of about 12- 20 in the evening. This meant that meal times had to be structured around them… not too much of an issue. One evening it did get a bit noisy but not too bad. The food at breakfast was very good. The evening meals were kept to a small selection of meals, but very well cooked. I can recommend the catch of the day.. in my case mackerel and monkfish. Service was excellent from all staff, really cheerful and very helpful. The room we had was a family room ( I booked at short notice) and was spacious. Beds were firm and comfortable. We used the pool each evening. The facilities were good.. excellent sauna and steam room. Note to management… the cleanliness of the showers and changing rooms were not good. The black mould was horrendous and I,m not sure why you would leave this like it as it is a fairly easy clean with the correct cleaning solutions. Also to use masking tape to attach the “fairy lights” to the restaurant ceiling was a bad mistake and looks awful, again such an easy fix to do properly.

Not as good as it used to be

Reviewed By Cereola

We chose this restaurant as 4years ago we had a wonderful fish dinner. This time it was all a bit average. The furniture is getting old and worn. I had to ask for my chair to be changed as I could feel the frame through the tired cushion cover. The upstairs was extremely warm so was desperate for fresh air. All in all a bit disappointing. I might try again next visit to check I wasn’t just unlucky.

It was originally constructed as a Tudor merchant's house and would have been a welcome sight when the Pilgrim Fathers stopped off at Bayards Cove on their way to America in August 1620. Browns Hotel Dartmouth

On the ground floor Browns bar has a wide range of reasonably priced wines and champagnes by the glass, complemented by a range of casual tapas platters and bar food. A gem of a hotel

Reviewed By Kazzizhubby

We absolutely loved our stay at Browns hotel. Staff, food, bar, amenities & location were all wonderful. Fabulous night’s sleep too. Breakfasts & dinners were both delightful & filling! Make sure you pre-book dinner though, it fills up very quickly (& for good reason). Genuinely can’t recommend this hotel highly enough. We’ll be going back, for sure. Parking for the hotel is via a free voucher for use in the Mayors Avenue car park. This is a public car park, with no bays allocated for the local hotels (of which many use this facility) , but get there early enough & you’ll get a parking space, as we did. The hotel is perfectly situated, being a short flat walk to the quayside & all the rest of what Dartmouth has to offer.

We are located close to the river Dart over looking Coronation Park and within easy walking distance of the main town amenities. The pub has a small intimate bar and dining room, with home cooked Tapas and Pizzas served on selected nights. We do not have our own car park but guests have the use of our passes for the main town car park.

Lovely pub, clean and tidy!

Reviewed By Bertybobby

Nice pub with friendly staff and some regulars in the bar and reasonable prices. Room lovely and clean with a river view. Nice touches and decor too. We didn't eat here so cannot review the food. Would probably have passed it over but for the positive reviews, but I'm impressed with the cleanliness and the location for Dartmouth.
