We came there to visit family and were very pleased with the comfort and cleanliness of the place. The staff was really nice, the room was large, clean and super comfortable, and the breakfasts were great, though maybe the coffee could have been better. But, without a doubt, this is a really nice place to stay while in Commordoro Rivadavia. I recommend it highly!

Not a great hotel for amenities but centrally located in the town. Rooms are poor standard but clean and tidy with old decor. Rooms overlooking entrance suffers from the noise from the street and bars across the road at early hours on a weekend morning. Staff polite.

13-15/1/19 Arg Com Riv Hotel Ventia This has been written and edited over a few days so please forgive tense and grammar oddities... We three British middle aged guys were almost midway through our (whole of January) month in Argentina working our way down further south than we got in 2007. Due to dental and back problems for one of us unlucky travellers we were a almost week late in our plans. We flew from BA very late on a Sunday, landed at 2, whizzed through the airport to grab a taxi and arrived at the hotel at 02:25 after a speedy taxi took us the 12km from airport (400/£8). We had managed to e-mail the hotel the day before to confirm we would arrive very very late and they eventually responded that they would let us in (as we were leaving the previous hotel in BA, rather cutting it fine). We arrived to find the door locked, naturally, but on ringing and knocking with no response we started to panic (none of us had phone SIM packages to ring). Eventually a stout gentleman appeared and let us in, giving us the key to room 8 on the first floor and leaving the paperwork to the morning as he had obviously been woken up and was a bit gruff. I do not blame him! We went to bed quickly as we were so tired. I was woken at whatever time by a loud music system in a passing car, then people entering the hotel rather noisily. I went back to sleep quickly though. If you are worried then bring earplugs. We ended up staying three nights and the second night at around 1am a boy with his toy turned his car music system bass to max to let us know what he got for Christmas and how deaf he was. He passed by at 01:30 again. The room door had a tendency to shake in the draught and sounded like someone was knocking on the door (such as cleaners in the morning). A wedge made of paper would helped dampen it. The door lock was also a bit sticky and difficult to open from the outside. On a related theme The hotel entrance door slams loudly if left to close itself. Breakfast was 8-10 and fairly basic with coffee and toaster down the far end which got very crowded with a fullish hotel with people waiting around the toaster blocking the coffees. I advised the proprietress to rearrange the hot drinks at the other end as waiting around or navigating past the crowds was not comfortable at that time of the morning. The medialuna ran out by 9:30 and the only savoury options were toast and butter and/or packets of cream cheese. Hot chocolate powder was available and also (for the first time seen) mate leaves and a mate bowl. The second morning at 9 was very quiet although I had to change the incessant music channel to news, albeit all in Spanish despite their paying for channels. I expect it was the same in the room, catering for Spanish businesspeople, although families stayed too. The actual room 8 was clean with a double and single bed both firm with clean linen, three pairs of fresh towels and packets of soap. There were also extra cushions for sitting up in bed comfortably (put into wardrobe overnight). Furniture and facilities included: Two bedside tables with drawers and bedside lamps; A central light switchable from door (with electric point); A large mirror in corner with fitted cupboard under; No hooks were in the room or any glasses unfortunately; A fitted wardrobe with eight coat hangers, hurrah!; A 32 inch LED TV, large portable electric fan on floor, no A/C; Enough electrical sockets (mix of flat and round pins) for devices; Wifi was the most reliable found so far with strong signals on each floor and adequate speeds but still the occasional lack of service;(simultaneously with the 4G too at one time so a general outage!); No smoke detectors or sprinklers seen but evacuation plans on the hall walls (down main stairs); Large openable door window onto a Juliette balcony overlooking main street including a cafateria and bank. Opening this in the daytime helped air the room although it is quite noisy outside. The shower-room was up a step from room and was large with a loo And a separate curtained off large shower area with with foot washing tap option. A window was open to the outside for ventilation, squeezy shampoo & conditioner dispensers and a rack for showering stuff. There was a useful toilet brush by loo too. Two bright flourescents lamps were over the small mirror over the sink. The water pressures were good for jetting out the razor. The rectangular plastic sink had been burnt by smokers unfortunately. There was a small bin between sink and loo, the remains of hook by the shower and sadly some ubiquitous hairs in corner. On leaving I reported a slow dripping tap in shower to the boss directly, hopefully it will be have been fixed soon after as he appreciated the feedback (no doubt otherwise paying for the water lost). It turned out he could speak some English after all (he was not up to it at 02:30 when we originally arrived). We stayed two nights in all as our first whole (Monday) day was spent looking for a car to hire and none were available till Wednesday, we also had a challenging time sorting a SIM (Claro is two blocks down San Martin, doing the best clearest deals). We had not thought it would be so difficult to leave so beware! It turned out our reserved hire car was cancelled so we had to stay a third night but the hotel was full. We hurriedly packed and checked out at 11:15 on Tuesday. The friendly receptionist did not speak English but let us phone another car hire company (Dubrovnik) to try to get a car out of this nice but not a tourist destination town. She phoned up a few hotels to to sort out the third night's stay. Some businesses have an extended five hour siesta from noon which is very frustrating!

We arrived early but were shown to our room, where we slept for five hours. The bed is extremely comfortable and the air conditioning is easy to use. We had no problems regarding temperature when we slept. Food and drink is provided after a call to the "concierge" and then it is delivered. The menu is limited but the quality is good and the prices are very reasonable. We enjoyed some foods we would not have as we decided to try each of the four combos. The staff are friendly and they did all they could to enable us to enjoy our stay. They organised for a taxi to take us to a beachside caravan for a late lunch. The driver waited and drove us back to the hotel. Although our Spanish is limited and their English is, too, they were prepared to use Google translate to explain any information required. This is an adults only hotel. We enjoyed the huge room with delightful spa and enormous shower. There are some theme rooms in the hotel- the Batcave, the Solar System, Hell, Cabaret and the Jungle, each of which is lavishly decorated. These rooms have King sized, rather than Queen sized beds. So, to sum it up, we enjoyed ourselves in a friendly environment which provided us with excellent rest, drink and food. The price was inexpensive and represented excellent value.

Excelente hotel en Comodoro Rivadavia

Reviewed By 759alejandroo
