Brilliant, exactly what we needed for 4 nights, sleeping and bathing facilities, breakfast, whilst visiting family in Colchester. 24 hour manned reception a surprise but most welcome as finding the hotel in the early hours, difficult due to A12 roadwork closures. Everyone was so polite and helpful.

Tried lots of places in Colchester. Most are alive or mega expensive. I simply need sockets to charge, a good shower and a comfy bed. This ticks the boxes. Ok it's not bling but I don't need that. It is also half the price of the fancy hotels. Will be back again

I stayed here for a week I and loved it. My room was exceptionally clean and very well maintained it had everything I needed. The hotel is located close to the town centre with easy access to shops/bus station and railway station. The staff Clare, Holly, Julie and Kiera took care of everything I needed throughout my stay and made me feel like one of the “family”. They also have a restaurant which I ate in every evening and had an amazing Sunday roast. Overall In my opinion this hotel is a 5 star and I have already booked my next stay.

Wouldn’t go back in a hurry

Reviewed By W7269SFnicoles

Check in was quick and easy but that’s the only positive from the trip. The staff were rude and didn’t take any interest in making the trip a positive experience. We complained about a few things we weren’t happy about and they took no interest in what we was saying. When it came to dinner the food was expensive and the bread for the burger was stale. You have to order from a tablet that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. The food was very bland and could do with some flavour. The breakfast in the morning wasn’t much better, the food was cold from being left out a while and the staff were just chatting at the bar not taking any notice. The room was dirty and needed a bit of tlc. In the room we was in there was a hole in the wall, dirt on the side. In the hallway there was glasses left on the floor that hadn’t been cleaned up, ketchup was left on the wall and bags of rubbish just left out. It’ll be fair to say I won’t be coming back to this hotel again.

We attended a wedding yesterday on the 14th, when we arrived finally to the the hotel to find there was no where in the hotel to park, i had a chat with the receptionist and she advised that parking is not allocated for residents who were staying at the hotel, we was not rude to her, and she said i can't deal with those people, the wedding party was waiting for us to sit down for the meal, we had to drive around again to park in the pay and display,. When we decided to check in for our room, we went to check out our room and was appalled by what we has seen, it smelt musky and damp, was dirty and not cleaned, as you will see from the photos below. We went back to reception and spoke to the receptionist and asked we could change the room and was informed that the only other room available was the one next door with no bedside lamps as they were broken. We wanted to cancel the room and asked for a refund and were advised this could not be done and would need to send email to the manager, we cancelled the room and had to come home no way we were going to stay in the hotel room. I would like to request a full refund.

Comfortable hotel

This is a comfortable hotel which we stayed in for one night in August 2021. It’s in an interesting building in the centre of Colchester. The bar, outside terrace and public rooms are well executed. Plenty of parking. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant with very good service.
