Rosanna is a star!

So this was the cheapest place we stayed in by more than half and yes it wasn't as luxurious as others but still a very comfortable, clean stay with everything needed. Actually it we thought it was worth more than the £45 we paid. Large room with actually the comfiest bed we slept in in Puglia. Huge bathroom and a lovely balacony. Everything was spotlessy clean. The best part of all is Rossana, a wonderful host, a bit of a language barrier but we still managed to have conversations in our own languages and we really felt she wanted to take care of us. Her breakfasts were delcious, one of the best we had and the breakfast room had beautiful views of the coast. This place far exceeded my expectations for the price. Yes its cheap and cheerful but really don't need anything more than a clean room, comfy bed and yummy breakfast. Thank you so much for a lovely stay and a wonderful welcome. We also like thr location, 2 min walk to the old town and only 20 min walk to the grotto. Quiet area and lovely to see the nonnas out chatting on the street, sewing and peeling veg. And the all old gents meeting in the centre for a discussion. Felt like a real slice of Italian life.

COFFEE AND CAKE - A LIFESAVER!

Reviewed By seljangolf

The Hotel degli ULivi will live long in our memories. On a cycling tour of Puglia, we were pulling our way up the long hill which leads out of the lovely village of Castro. It began to rain ☔️, like no rain you’ve ever seen. Getting desperate (there was thunder and lightning about), we stopped at the Hotel degli ULivi. The young gentleman who greeted us could not have been more welcoming and friendly, even though I think he doesn’t get many cycling customers. We enjoyed our huge, steaming hot cafe lattes and the most gorgeous cake, all for less than 5 eoros. Our bikes were tucked away under cover and he was happy for us to stay as long as it rained - what a gentleman. We used the loos and in doing so, admired this superb hotel, all cool marble, rich wood, and great design, and wished we could stay. If we come back to Puglia, we certainly will.

A wonderful fortnight!

We stayed at b&b Zahir for four nights and we are more than pleased with everything from the location to the staff and everything in between. The beds are comfortable, which is not very common in Italy. The breakfast is on the sweet side, yet delicious with new additions every morning. Our room was very clean, modern and spacious, with a huge balcony! Even though this b&b is not situated right at the marina, a very convenient bus takes you down to the marina for only 1€. The bus stops just hundred meters from the entrance to b&b Zahir and takes you down the hills in no time at all All in all, great value for money and an extremely nice stay. We will be back, and gladly recommend you to stay here while exploring beautiful Puglia.

Southern hospitality & the most delicious pies!

We found the B&B ‘A Casa di Giordy’ while looking for a place to stay during our car trip in Salento. Unfortunately, only one night seemed to be available when we tried to book. We decided to call and ask for an extra night, and we were rewarded with kindness, incredible hospitality, an extra night in Castro and even a wonderful breakfast the when we arrived on Tuesday early morning. The host, Assuntina, is a wonderful kind lady who makes amazing ‘pasticciotto Leccese’ with amarena cherries and will be able to give you the best suggestions to visit the area. We spent three perfect days in Salento and will definitely return to Assuntina and her delicious pies for breakfast! Big hug, Alan & Antoinette
