Charming hotel in beautiful Asiago

Reviewed By Jan F

We so enjoyed our stay at Hotel Paradiso 8 years ago that we had to repeat again while visiting family in the region once again. While it was difficult to make reservations back in February, perseverance paid off. Once again we had a lovely stay, making use of the terrific spa this time as well. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The staff was friendly and professional, despite a very busy Disney themed weekend in the town squares! While our room was a bit more cramped this time, we would still stay here once again.

Magical trip for children and adults

Reviewed By wendyallison

What a lovely place! We stayed for 2 nights at the hotel and visited the Gnome Village in the natural forest. The children had a ball. The play park is well maintained and loads of fun. There is a playroom as well in the hotel. The rooms were delightful, with gorgeous views of the forest and surrounding alpine scenery. But the highlight has to be the Gnome Village which is just superb. So much thought and innovative detail made this a magical experience for everyone. Thank you to all involved and the children are still talking about their experiences.

Outstanding

Newly remodeled guest rooms with balconies and private baths; clean, comfortable, fast wifi, fabulous breakfast (cheeses, meats, pickled veggies, hard boiled eggs, a variety of breads, pastries, and jams, fresh fruit, cereal, juices, fabulous espresso/cappuccino/hot chocolate freshly made to order). Gorgeous views, and ample free parking. It is set a little out of the center of town, with beautiful views over the country side to the mountains and back in to town of the church and war memorial. The property is family owned and run since the mid 1970s. Michela speaks English with reasonable fluency; Artemio and Rita understand a little. Asiago is certainly not on the usual American tourist itinerary, but outdoor enthusiasts or WWI buffs in particular will find it well worth the drive, and this hotel will be an excellent base

First Impressions. Second Impressions.

Over many decades, we have seen more of Italy than most Italians. This was new territory for us, and as with most travelers, after a long day's drive we wanted to settle in to our hotel, have a good meal and then take some time to get the sense of the place. That routine was thwarted in unexpected ways. Asiago has decided to make the downtown area car free and pedestrian friendly on weekends. While that is a worthy aim, we spent half an hour going in circles unable to reach the hotel with our GPS telling us to go down streets that were barred. Several calls to the hotel were thankfully answered in English. I even stopped at the local police station-which was closed for the weekend! This is well known to the locals, but not to people from 4500 miles away. It would be VERY EASY for the hotel to post some helpful directions on their website, and/or notify guests arriving on weekends-but they did not. That is unacceptable. Finally, Maddalena, of the hotel met us at a parking lot and guided us to perhaps the one southern street that took us to the hotel. She was very kind, and it is not her fault that the hotel didn't anticipate this problem. While we were on our trip, the hotel website was updated to note that their Michelin Starred restaurant would open in June. There was no mention that their other restaurant, also recommended by Michelin, was also closed. We were first told that they were redesigning their menu, an annual occurrence. Digging further, we learned that their chef had left, and a new one was to start sometime in the next few weeks. This is a challenge for the hotel and a major annoyance for someone who booked the hotel nearly a year ago because of the presence of the restaurants! The hotel did right by us. They were able to secure a reservation on a Saturday night at a fine restaurant on the outskirts of town, one also recommended by Michelin. They also drove us there and back in the hotel van, avoiding another challenging drive with the weekend restrictions. Asiago is a neat little town, a little sleepy, but very clean, crime free and in a pleasant agricultural and recreational environment. Tommasso and Maddalena were exemplary hotel employees and really did give us some insight into the fine people who live here. The hotel breakfasts are delightful, the public rooms charming, the hotel rooms (at least ours) a bit dated, but quite comfortable. After the replacement of the third Sky control box, our television worked well and we were able to get some English language news, important in this troubled world. Travelers need to be flexible and open minded. But at the same time hotels need to anticipate the needs of their guests. I'm sure the hotel will again be a culinary destination, and one can't anticipate a chef leaving. We did get a feel for the town and the region. I'm not sure if there is enough to draw us back, other than fine people who see the merits of living in a fairly remote place.

Great Location, Good Breakfast, Small Rooms

Reviewed By disee18

Stayed here at the Relax Hotel Erica in May for a couple of nights. Staff at the front desk were very friendly. The Hotel is centrally located and reasonably comfortable. Fortunately the room was very warm and was clean which is very important. Breakfast was very good, service in dining room was not particularly friendly. Room for 3 was very small with very little space for our things (we had 3 small 55cm suitcases and 3 small backpacks. If booking I would suggest the back section of the hotel as the noise from the front could be a problem if windows were open...fortunately we had the windows closed due to the weather so was cosy inside. I would best describe the Hotel as average.

Hotel Alpi is in the main street of Asiago that on weekends and during periods of increased tourist numbers is transformed, along with the adjacent lanes, in a large pedestrian zone where you can walk in peace. Disappointment

Reviewed By gigisboys

Not what we expected at all. Hotel needed updating ....rugs, furniture and the local was not in a safe area. We left after the first night after walking out of this hotel the first evening and confronting various uncomfortable situations on the street the hotel was located on.
