91 Loop

A boutique hostel nestled in the heart of central Cape Town. We have transformed a run down building into something that is now chic and happening with rooms ranging from privates to dorms and our very own unique pod experience. We have a 24 hour front desk, concierge, great free wifi, The Honey Badger bar & restaurant, as well as On Longmarket café serving deluxe coffee and sandwiches, all right there within our building.

Loved it!

I enjoyed my stay at 91 Loop. The female dorm was clean and the mattress was very comfortable. The staff were amazing! I traveled solo, but they made sure I felt safe, gave me tips, and answered my many questions. The restaurant and lounging area is nothing but great vibes! Loved the music they played; I think I shazaamed the whole playlist. In walking distance to many restaurants and markets. I’ll stay again on my next trip to Cape Town.

Wonderful, value for money accommodation in the heart of Cape Town.

This accommodation was a fantastic few in the beautiful city of Cape Town. Very eclectic mix of visitors from young backpackers, families and couples. We stayed in an en-suite double room which was perfect for our needs. There are so many beautiful communal areas to relax in and the bar was always relaxing and comfortable. They have organised activities that you can join or you can simply use it as a base to stay in. Would thoroughly recommend and it’s great to know that some of the revenue goes to a worthy cause.

Long Street Backpackers

Our famous hostel is situated right in the middle of the CBD, in the entertainment precinct of Cape Town. We have been described as 'The Soul of Long Street' (Coast to Coast). The hostel is contained in a lovely 19th Century building, at the quieter South-West end of the street, with a sunny and leafy courtyard, fantastic balconies with views onto Signal Hill and the busy streets below. We are an 'old-school' hostel and differentiate ourselves from the new generation of 'poshtels'. We are all about communalism and laid back fun and adventure. We share meals and outings together, we party together (often!!!) and we treat guests and staff alike as part of our weird and wonderful family. It is a large hostel sleeping up to 80 guests and there is never a dull moment or a day without adventure. Just remember to bring your passport with you! We take the safety and security of our guests very seriously and for that reason we must insist on ALL guests presenting valid passports to check in.

This hostel works very unserious

This hostel works very unserious. I booked a 10 days stay and an airport transfer at this place in Dec 2021. Because of Omikron I had to cancel the whole trip. Despite several emails with the request that they should refund me the transfer cost, they haven't responded to my emails and have not refunded the amount. Fortunately, I booked the accommondation through Hostelworld and received the money. From this hostel I probably would not have received the overnight costs. Everyone hast to work for their money but this hostel makes money at the expense of others. If you expect a serious service avoid this hostel.

Great Stay @ Ashanti

Reviewed By Daniel S

This was my first EVER stay in a backpackers hostel and believe me I was a little nervous not really knowing what to expect. However, I needn't be at all. My stay at Ashanti was great. My room was perfect, clean and tidy on arrival. The staff (Kyle) was extremely friendly and approachable. He was always on hand to offer advice about the area, the lodge and had some great tips on local places to check out. Ashanti is in a great location. It's around a 45min walk from the V&A Waterfront and only 10 minute walk from Cape Town city centre yet, its far enough away you always get a good night sleep. There are restaurants, coffee shops and and checkers 5 minute walk away. You get great views of table mountain as well. It's 10 minutes in an UBER from Camps Bay and Clifton Beaches. showers and toilets were spotless everyday. My room had a ceiling fan that was much needed in the heat and kept me cool at night. The pool was also nice to cool down and served as a great opportunity to meet other guests. I loved my stay at Ashanti and if this is what backpackers hostels are like, I am all for it. All the others certainly have some big shoes to fill to match the Ashanti. I would like to thank the entire team at Ashanti and a personal thank you to Kyle. I will be back

What a view!

Reviewed By Jazzmanworks

Yes man, this place has a view for days! Unfortunately it end there. While enjoying the scenery; I was hit by a sewage smell that turned my gut. This was blowing up the valley directly onto the camping area. The other thing is that the bar draws some strange characters from below that didn't help with the vibe or turd smell.

Comfortable refuge from city partying

Reviewed By marckdan

I've stayed there a few nights, and return again & again; even contemplating a long stay. The place is clean; the communal kitchen & lounge area is inviting, the in-house pub & adjoining balcony is cosy and gives the feel of a private party, above the bustle of Long Street below. Communal bathrooms are OK, kept clean. I love the many nooks & turns & corners of the old house and the creaking wooden floors. But the guests are what make the place feel like a home away from home -- an eclectic mix of local & foreign visitors passing through the city. There's a feeling & atmosphere of being in a backpackers in a foreign city, somewhere abroad, making one feel as if one is on holiday, somewhere away from home. I love this place! It's become my accommodation of first choice, for a party night or two in the city.

Friendly management, good location

My (private) room was pretty small but all was clean and shower warm. Plenty of space to relax and hang out both inside and outside. Lots of long-term guests while I was there. Lots of smokers too and there didn't seem to be a dedicated smoking area. Communal kitchen busy around meal times so tricky to keep a physical distance at the moment.
