The 10 best Hostels hotel in Bucharest, Romania

May 5, 2023 Weston Hennigan

Vlad the Impaler stated his claim to Bucharest in 1459. His citadel on the Dambovita was the first of flotillas of palaces, many of which still stand. Four subway lines and a modern bus network transport visitors and commuters. Nicknamed "Little Paris", Bucharest's elegant early 20th-century architecture shows French influences. Don't miss the Village Museum, Romanian Athenaeum and the Peasant Museum. You can't miss the Palace of Parliament, the second-largest building in the world (after the Pentagon).

Clean, Friendly & Relaxing

No complaints here, A clean budget hotel in a quiet area which is 5 minutes walk to the centre of old town. The staff are friendly and helpful people who will go out there way to help you. The rooms are clean, have a shower, TV and storage for clothes. If you require your room cleaned just ask and it is done. If you require some laundry cleaned this is arranged at a small fee and your items are washed and dried. Perfect place for family's on a budget or just anyone looking for simple accomodation. Vending machines outside for coffee, juice and snacks. Supermarkets 2 minutes away and fast food KFC and McDonalds 3 minutes away. Don't read the negative reviews as this place is no longer a hostel. It has been a great, clean, professional place to which I have enjoyed 10 nights of relaxation for a very reasonable price. Like everything the question is would I stay again ? The answer is 100% yes, it's close enough to the centre but far enough away from the thumping noise at night.

Excellent value for money, centred in old town Bucharest. Looked a little dodgy from the outside but the hostel itself could not have been more comfortable and well appointed. Extremely warm (which was needed in late December) and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

This was one of the most crappiest hostels I've been. Showers were dirty, the bed was old and there is not much of an atmosphere going on. The staff who works there are all in a "work-away" kind of system, they're nice but no one really has a responsibility for the hostel. I was traveling by myself as a female and there were almost only old man staying in the dorms which made it not a comfortable vibe. Nonetheless 100 euro in cash was stolen from me while I was going to the toilet quickly just before I left and left my bag on my bed. Literally the men were already staring at me weirdly and after I found out money was stolen from me I would not say it was a comfortable or safe environment. Also it is quite far from the old town in a bit of sketchy area. I only chose it because it was close to the train station but that was literally the one and only positive thing.

First Hostel

Welcome to the newest hostel in Bucharest! We strive to be one of the best hostels in Romania, where people feel at home while travelling in another country. First Hostel has only mixed dorm rooms, available for those passing through and others who want to stay a while and just unwind. All our dorms are very well organised and have been specially fitted, so every bed has its own night stand.

Poor visit

Reviewed By therealsabra

Cold showers, broken towel warmers (I checked multiple bathrooms), overflowing trash cans, no toilet paper or soap refills. The trash can in my dorm room and bathroom were never changed during my stay. The floors were never cleaned and the toilet paper was never refilled either. The housekeeper took things from my bed and never returned them all, just one. It’s impossible to tell if a bed has been cleaned and beds are not assigned. It’s a free for all. This property needs a reception area.

Nice hostel & lovely staff

Reviewed By victoriaa492

The staff at the hostel are really great, they give so much information and help so much. They booked our taxi for us, gave directions, recommendations. We couldn’t have asked for more. Our room 003 was a little noisy as opposite the bar and theatre but it was spacious and clean, the beds were made ready for us to sleep in and they’d turned the heating on for us, the shower was great too. The walk to the city took around 15 minutes and felt safe with myself, a friend and my 15 & 17 year olds. The taxi from the airport to the hostel at 10pm cost 40 Lei so a great price. There are several little supermarkets around the hostel and places to eat. The bar right next to it was good for food and cheap drinks so we loved having that so close. I will happily stay here again :) The only pic I have is of us drinking at the bar next to the hostel.

Good host

Reviewed By Alexandru B

We did not staid at this hostel, I made a reservation and after I saw the hotel I canceled it because it wasn`t good for us. The price is okay but for me the lack of cleanliness or the old toilets was a problem for us. I think for someone who just wants to sleep and doen`t need a bathroom or a shower here is okay. The host was very kind and explained us the adress of the hostel and also presented us the rooms even he knew that we don`t like it so much.

Interesting location

Reviewed By FabCat8

I was there for a meeting in one of their lounges. The location was quite hard to find, but the inside was cozy and the people in the other lobby were playing the guitar and it actually made a nice environment for our meeting, it was a great joke opportunity (we were starting to discuss some love stuff and the guitar was just perfectly syncronized). Interesting location overall, central and with a nice view but hard to point out and the way up is exhausting for unfit people.
