Feeling home

Reviewed By annemarthe1988

I stayed 3 nights at this hostel and i really enjoyed it. De room was very big and clean. It's in a kind of colonial building. Al rooms, toilets and shower are around the "plaza" of the hostel. Very nice place where you can always find someone of the family. Feels like home. My spanish is not good, but with google translate and a lot of laugh, the owner helps me with everything. She, and her family, are really nice. The location is perfect! You can walk easily to all the best parts of town. I really recommend this place for visiting Arequipa!

Best choice in Cabanaconde before hiking the Colca Canyon!

We stayed for one night at Ludwig’s hostel before hiking to Lluhuar lodge in the Colca Canyon. Rooms are simple but good. Shower with hot water. We had an excellent breakfast at his mothers place, just two blocks away, because the hostel’s restaurant is currently under construction. Upon request sandwiches for lunch are provided to take on your hike. Ludwig helped us planning our hike in the Colca Canyon which was really great! He and his wife made their own map of the Canyon with helpful information. We felt good prepared for the quite challenging hike. We could leave our luggage at the hostel for the night. For the next day Ludwig arranged a taxi for us from Lluhuar lodge to Chivay. Make sure to take cash as there is no ATM in Cabanaconde or the Colca Canyon.

I cannot rate this hostel highly enough. The staff are always friendly and helpful... The location is perfect being one block from the main square and the facilities are great. The biggest thing I want to mention though is the experience I had when my suitcase broke... We were at another hostel to start with, which was rubbish so i found mango, and while moving our luggage here, one of the wheel broke off my suitcase.. I wanted to try and fix it before replacing so I asked the guy at the desk ( who it turned out was the owner) if they had a few tools I could borrow... Not only did he lend me tools, but he came to help me repair it, and when I needed a few bolts to finish the repair, insisted on going off himself to source them for me... And he didn't even charge me!!! This is one kindest and best examples of customer service I've ever had!! So to talk more about the joint... - perfectly clean rooms - private bathroom with HOT shower - free breakfast, simple but good. - lovely atmosphere - large lounge with TV and Netflix - Roof sun terrace with loungers, hammocks, chairs and a pool table - cold beer, coffee and other drinks available on site at good rates - lives up to the 24hr front desk and English speaking - great security, you need to be buzzed in by the desk - best and safest luggage storage we've come across. - comfy beds Honestly I could go on forever... Best hostel we've used in our 2months in Peru!

Family friendly place

Reviewed By mivpo

I booked before with other hotel but the hotel is located in the second floor with a lot of stairs and not friendly at all if you are traveling with with elder people and didn't wanted to help with the suitcase. I booked El Conquistador and it was the best decision. Although we had to stay at the second floor (but we booked on last minute) the stairs were way more friendlier for my family, the staff was always willing to support, I felt safe (the staff takes seriously the covid safety measures) . The photos of the room in Booking doesn't reflect the size of the room and the bathroom (they're bigger). The location is perfect, because is close to the city center. They have really nice shared areas and a good breakfast (they asked you the time that you will take it in order that is not crowded for covid safety reasons). Thank you very much to the staff, they were great!

We stayed 3 nights and loved it. The rooms are nice--great beds, linens, hot shower, a heater (we did not need it in November), and even a hair dryer. Our upstairs room had a nice view and the breakfast was nice. The hotel is at the top of the trail that leads to Sangalle and other canyon villages. We hiked every day, all day and loved our time there. In town we ate at several restaurants where locals eat and never paid more than 9 soles for a cena completa (soup, entree with rice and vegetables, and a mug of mate). The hotel has wifi in the common area if you need it. We had a car rental that we parked on the street in front of the hotel and it was fine for the 4 days we were there. The manager was very nice and was helpful with information on the area.
