Lysuholl - Horses And Holidays

The farm Lysuholl is located in Western Iceland on the South coast of the Snæfellsnes peninsula, which many Iceland experts consider to be the most beautiful part of the country. It is charactarized by a huge variety of landscapes and the glacier Snæfellsjokull with its nearly magical attraction gives it a very special charme.

Dalahestar

Dalahestar Horse Rental offers riding tours in small groups in the pristine nature of West Iceland. The tours are personalised and suitable for both beginners and advanced riders. The most popular and appreciated route on our repertoire is a two hours beach tour.

We had the most amazing morning with Caroline at Dalahestar. With three kids aged 7-12-14 our expectations where met and all had the most beautiful ride along the fjords. Being total beginners Caroline expertly told and showed us how to behave and handle the horses. Bring warm clothes, gloves and hats. It can be cold even in the summer. We felt safe and in good hands. I can fully recommend Dalahestar; it is not posh but driven by heart and competence.

Kverna Horse Rental

Kverna Horse Rental is a small family run business, just 1km outside of Grundarfjorður. We offer 1 or 2 hour riding tours in small groups. On our tours we go up into the mountains surrounding the farm, where we will see beautiful waterfalls and enjoy the untouched nature.

This was a wonderful ride! The landscape was stunning, the horses were great, and Julia was a fabulous guide (I was able to easily schedule with her via email). This ride was a completely different experience than the Iceland beach ride we had earlier in the trip, because this terrain was mountainous and rugged. The horses are perfectly suited for traversing it, just as they have for centuries. We lucked out with wonderful weather and could enjoy the green and sun on the farm's gorgeous property.

Grof Horseback Riding Iceland & The Holy Ram Lodge

Gröf Horseback riding Iceland is a small family business, run by Susan & Víðir Þór Herbertsson. We provide warm and personal service in our comfortable, modern Lodge The Holy Ram. We offer pre-prepared, four & six days, tours during the summer. Our aim is to offer unforgettable riding tours on good horses in a beautiful landscape – and a bit of luxury during the stay. In our Lodge we have double & singlerooms with private bathrooms, each room has great views and a skylight over your bed. The ‘livingroom’ is a cozy hall where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the glacier. A great outdoor area with again fabulous views to the mountains, sea & the glacier and a hot tub & sauna. In the winter we offer long weekends for non-riders, or riders who like to see their favorite horse in their wintercoat. With of course the possibility of seeing the beautiful Northern Lights at night
