Pakefield Riding School

Reviewed By sannajordansson - London, United Kingdom

We came to Lowestoft for a horse riding holiday and we loved it at Pakefield! The school is situated about a 10 min walk from the main pier and they have around 30 horses/pony’s of all sizes. We chose this riding holiday because of the beaches and it was an amazing experience to canter down a near empty beach on happy forward horses! Lowestoft have a main beach were the pier is located which I would have thought would be very busy a normal summer, but also a beach on the other side of town which was open to animals such as dogs unleashed and horses. One of the days we did a picnic ride to the school’s fields were the horses can graze and run around and John’s sandwiches were legendary! John is the husband of Tess day who opened the school in 1946 and they are both still involved! Tess has developed a disability friendly school which I was so happy to see, everyone should have the opportunity to ride! Thank you to all staff who made this a super fun experience!

Highly recommend Lakeside riding centre for a fun, relaxed ride in beautiful countryside. My friend and I went for a 2 hour hack, both the horses and the ride were exactly what we looking for. The horses were beautifully schooled, responsive and calm, giving us some lovely canters through the Norfolk countryside. If you are an experienced rider looking to ride somewhere new or you are in Norfolk for a holiday, this is definitely the place to go. Cat is really friendly and rest assured you will have a lovely ride at lakeside.

My kids did a taster horse riding lesson while we were in the area. Brian was really accommodating and responsive around the booking. He made both kids really at ease the whole way through the lesson and had them trotting and using the reins within 15 mins. They both loved the experience and my son was raving about it afterwards. They even came away with memorable life tips! Really recommend Marquis Equine for lessons or a holiday outing.
