The 10 Best Horseback Riding Tours in Cornwall, England

March 6, 2022 Mikaela Didonna

Cornwall is the extreme southwestern peninsula of England. It has the longest stretch of continuous coastline in Britain and it is one of the sunniest areas in the UK. With picturesque villages, Celtic ruins, light blue waters, gardens and parks and unique architecture it certainly is among the most scenic areas of England. Home of many events and festivals and the land of Cornish pasty, it is definitely worth visiting.

I was looking for something to entertain my 4yr old grandson and he loves horses so I booked a tiny tots half hour for him. He absolutely loved it, he spent five minutes brushing the horse, then he got to sit on Sunny, his excited face said it all. I can’t believe that all it cost was £5, and the joy it brought was beyond any cost. Thank you so much for such a brilliant experience, we will definitely be back.

Booked an hour hack for myself, husband and 3 children ages 9,13 and 16. Never ridden a horse in my life so slightly anxious. Booking was easy - all sorted via text. They supply all hats and boots. The horses were just amazing. They know exactly what they are doing, there were 4 riders with us in a group of 10 I think. Felt very safe , always someone along side or near you. The route had stunning views and was a lovely gentle pace although we did get to have a trot on a couple of occasions. Well worth the money and would definitely return. Thank you Goonbell for a wonderful holiday memory x

Great views, helpful and friendly staff and lovely horses. Due to the amount of time since we last rode, we had a lesson first with Lauren. We then went on the two hour hack with a stop at a pub, also with Lauren. Lauren took us on a circuitous route all though the old mining country and mostly on bridleways. What a treat that was. I have to say on the few short roads we had to negotiate, all the drivers were courteous and slowed down for us. We had a stop at The Countryman Inn in Piece (yes that is the name of the village) for refreshments. We were very lucky with the weather which helped a great deal. My wife rode Mustard in the lesson and Nettle on the hack and I had Brailey (not sure of spelling) for the whole three hours Thank you everyone at Wheal Buller for making this a memorable experience.

Myself and my boyfriend went on the two hour hack. My boyfriend had never ridden before so we had a group lesson a few days before the hack just so he could pick up the basics. Both the hack and the lesson were taken by Lauren who was brilliant. She was really encouraging and had my boyfriend feeling confident and in control - she tailored the hack to our abilities perfectly! The horses were lovely, calm and well behaved and the scenery was beautiful with great views out to the coast. Overall a fantastic experience! I would recommend being honest about your riding experience when you book so you can be placed on a hack that best suits your ability!

I had the most enjoyable hour ride along the river Gannel estuary, the horse was perfect and nice and forward going just what I asked for. We had quite a few canters along the sand and through the water, I was left as one very happy rider. Would highly recommend for all levels of riding.
