Ascot Racecourse

Reviewed By GrahamC52 - Ascot, United Kingdom

I am very lucky, to live within walking distance, lived in Ascot for over 32 years, but only discovered the internal tarmac track within Ascot race track - The Heath - only 2 years ago for walking the dogs. The circuit is 1.2 miles approx and with a little incline to make you work a little (cardio) and takes about 25 - 40 mins, depending on pace. Social distancing observed obviously. Recommended, lots of sky to take in and It gives you a mindful lift, in normal times coffee shops, eateries and bakers in High Street. Entrance through Ascot High Street and Winkfield Rd by Walkway tunnels under the grass track.

Plumpton Racecourse

Plumpton is a hidden gem in the world of horseracing. The thrill of Jump racing, the joy of a win, delicious food and drink, and stunning rural backdrop provide a memorable sporting experience for everyone from novice to racing expert. We race 16 times a year between September and May, and with a track just over a mile round (one of the smallest in the country) we offer great viewing of the whole course. You feel as though you can almost touch the horses as they thunder past the winning post on each circuit. You are also likely to be rubbing shoulders with the UK's top trainers and jockeys who regularly come to Plumpton, and we are renowned as a nursery ground for the equine stars of the future.

Plumpton Racecourse offers a tranquil, enjoyable race day. The course is great quality and views from the stands are good. With the help of the big screen you can see everything that’s going on. For spectators, the course is easy to get around and the food and drink are both great quality. I highly recommend as a raceday in the countryside!

Epsom Downs Racecourse

Reviewed By DeannaS573 - London, United Kingdom

I went for a walk on the downs , over the race course this morning. It was a cold , dry, clear and frosty morning, so one could see for miles. I parked the car at the top car park and then took my dogs for a nice ling walk. We saw 15 racehorses training and some of them galloped or cantered past us. It was a wonderful sight. The only downside is that one cannot let the dogs off the lead while the horses are training. One would have to go in the afternoon to do that. The gates to the car park close at 5pm now, so on e could not be there in the evening.

Visited on a Gin Thursday, needless to say didn't have a gin! The racecourse is beautifully kept and the set up great. Able to watch the horses being saddled, pre parade ring, the jockeys mounting and cantering down to the stalls. Everywhere clean and the staff exceptional. It takes us 5 hours travelling but we shall come again.

Described as 'the most beautiful racecourse in the world', Goodwood Racecourse sits on top of the picturesque Sussex Downs, just a short distance away from the cathedral city of Chichester. Hosting 19 race days a year there is plenty to enjoy from May to October, the highlight of which is the Qatar Goodwood Festival, affectionately known as 'Glorious Goodwood'. Had a great day at Glorious Goodwood, the location is stunning, excellent facilities and very reasonably priced (compared to ascot)£30 for a jug of pimms ,£5 for a pint of lager and £12 for a fast food lunch. Everyone was well turned out but you didn`t feel out of place if you were not wearing a tie. The parade ring , winners enclosure and stands were very accessible from the Gordon enclosure. One slight negative was there seamed to be a lack of chairs on the grassed areas and many people had taken their own ,which l may do next year.
