My husband and I recently spent a week in the Lago Maggiore area, after not having gone anywhere since March. We were and still are very concerned about guarding against COVID and wanted to take as many precautions as we could, while still enjoying a one-week getaway. We were distancing ourselves, eating outside whenever possible, wearing our masks, and always had sanitizing supplies with us. We had never before been to Italy and we had never before hired a private guide and we were not sure what to expect. We gave it a try, especially so we wouldn’t expose ourselves to too many people too close together for too long. We first read about Micaela from Tripadvisor, but then we read about a lot more of what she had to offer on her website. She was very responsive to all of our emails and questions. Well, hiring Micaela was our best decision! We spent two whole days and two partial days with her and we are so glad we did. It was soooo worth it! For our first tour with her, we explored the three Borromean Islands, getting around with a private boat. We met at the boat landing at the Piazzale Lido near the cable car to Mt. Mottarone (our hotel was conveniently nearby). Micaela shared her knowledge of the rich history, art, and culture of the area, as well as her extensive knowledge of the local flora. The palace and its history on Isola Bella was amazing, as well as the very beautiful ten-level terraced and sculptured gardens, where we also learned about the citron. We ate a most delicious lunch on Isola Pescatore (our best meal)! This island was so quaint and chock-full of character. At Isola Madre, we much enjoyed visiting the country villa and equally beautiful, but different English-style gardens. It was a fabulous day! We also took a private boat to Caterina del Sasso (partial day), which was stunning. We learned how the monastery came to be, about the frescoes, the religious order and more. It’s rock-hugging location is awesome. For our off-the-beaten-path tour, we took a very pleasant walk to the outskirts of Orta San Giulio, seeing the non-touristy side - how people live and what they do, learning more about this area and ending up at a very small typical old-time village. We then walked along lovely Lake Orta to the charming town center of Orta San Giulio. From there, we took a boat to the small island not far away and toured the beautiful basilica and complex there, learning about the frescoes and the lives of the martyrs. The churches here are real gems. For our last tour, we took a sunset cruise, again using a private boat. Micaela told us about many of the enchanting villas along the coast and more. She provided us with a bottle of wine, complete with snacks, while we watched the changing colors of the sunset as it played out in the sky, clouds, water, mountains and off of buildings. It was so relaxing and serene and we loved every minute! Our boat captain was also very nice, polite and accommodating. Micaela and the captain were very good about wearing their masks. We took them off during times when there was plenty of distancing room. Micaela was professional and knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, personable and thoughtful and spoke great English. Hiring her so greatly enhanced our trip tenfold and we definitely recommend her without hesitation! [Her husband is also a private driver, so they would make an excellent pair, if you needed that as well.] We will always remember her and cherish this wonderful trip!!! Grazie mille, Micaela! ????????☀️????

Sunday early morning, grey and chilly air... "Daytime sleep is like the sin of the flesh" The mountain was hided by a low cloud but when we went up, here we are, the abbeys appear on top of the rock, strong and proud, majestic even and so humble at the same time. We made the tour on our own and we enjoyed a lot, following our instinct and timing. We just had to be out of the church by midday because of the Sunday mass - obvious. It is a touristic place but used by living monks! Don't forget, it is a beautiful location but most of all a religious mecca, a strong spiritual location on the Saint Michaels's line. I'll go back on Spring for sure. “Love is wiser than wisdom.” Umberto Eco

The Unusual tour is the most complete and informative walking tour (up to 4 hours) through the touristic and non-touristic spots of Turin: historical cafes, noble buildings, authentic places with traditions and intriguing stories, hidden gems, private residential courtyards also off the beaten track, "unexpected" churches with their treasures. The hours will fly by and you will certainly not get bored, I promise! - Why is there a "devil" in the Royal Church? - Where's "Mussolini's finger"? - Why are there 18 km of underground tunnels and arcades? - Have you ever heard about 2017 Turin's tragedy? My style is ironical, informal, friendly and with an interactive point of view, for curious people who want to be amazed by the city...like you! Forget about the guides with an umbrella, their list of dates and big groups, because I want to give 100% of my attention to everyone. Consider me like your LOCAL FRIEND, with whom you can also joke and have fun, more than a guide! I recommend this tour for those want to understand the city with a local who knows many fascinating stories and unique places that you could not otherwise find. Moreover, also loving photography, I have designed an itinerary that will allow you to take very special and always interesting photos. Do not just expect to walk and listen: get ready to chat, discuss the past, present and future of Turin, way beyond what's on the surface, in a journey backwards from 2021 to 15 BC! ✓✓✓ Please WRITE to me BEFORE booking (to +39 33 94 60 48 85 or here in the Q&A section) since, depending on your time availability and language, another day/hour would fit you better (the tour can be in 4 languages) and I could ask you to change day. I will answer as soon as I can!

We stayed in touring just for one night on our way to Milan and we thought that an evening tour would have been the best way to see the city, especially under the night light. Our guide was so knowledgeable, very useful because she gave us much practical information and make us see the city with a local point of view. We enjoy it and got the best of the city for a very affordable price. Super recommended!

This tour is focused on the past and present beauty of Turin in terms of architecture, cuisine and lifestyle for those who want to understand the charme of this (still) underrated city in only 2 hours, under the magic of the evening lights or in the lively lunch hour. We'll visit the Medieval / Roman district, with their pictoresque cobblestone streets and typical taverns too, the market and its hidden gems, the oldest part of Turin and where real people live. With me you'll see a less touristic face of Turin, not easy to discovery on your own. You'll see Turin in the evening if you choose the schedule 6:30-8:30pm (or even after dinner), but it's also possible to do it around noon (11:30-1:30). Simply WRITE me BEFORE booking in order to set together the best time and price. Marzia and Melissoula are awesome! They received me in their house and they treated me as part of the family. I wanted to visit Turin and practise my Italian, but unfortunately we couldn't go out because of the pandemic. Instead, I had a great time with them at home, we talked about the world and we could even practise different language, too (Marzia also speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese). I really appreciate all your kindness and I hope I come back soon to finish my tour around the city! Thank you so much for both of you!! :) Vico
