Having organised a group visit, I must congratulate Adrian and June the on providing an excellent,very informative tour of the house. (the Gallery wasn't open that day) . Their insightful knowledge and abiity to answer questions posed by a very varied group was terrific.

A replica of a coastal thatched cottage village that offers a glimpse at life as it was lived in Glencolmcille in past centuries.We will teach you a couple of phrases in Gaelic.Our Amenities includes 6 thatched cottages with original artifacts depicting different era's.a Craft shop which promotes a big range of local crafts.Our Tea House has a variety of Home Baked Goods,Soup,Sandwiches,Paninis,Irish Coffees etc.We are located at a beautiful beach with stunning views of the wild atlantic.We hope to re-open our much loved Nature walk at the back of The Folk Village later this year.Call in for a mug of Tae the Kettle is always on.

A great indoor activity for a rainy day. The well preserved cottages gave a fascinating insight into old rural life in Ireland. The videos that played on the projectors were particularly informative. We then stopped off at the cafe for some homemade soup and sandwiches followed by Irish coffee and apple pie. The cafe was very affordable and the portions filling. Great day out overall.

Legend says it was built by the ancient gods; the ring fort was known as the Sun Palace and was held sacred. Traces of ancient earthworks, dating to the early Iron Age, surround the fort, enclosing an area of about 5 acres (0.02 km2). The fort itself was probably built in the early centuries of the Christian era. From the 5th to the 12th century AD it served as the royal seat of the O Neill sept of Aileach; it was destroyed by Murtogh O Brien, king of Munster in 1101. To make the demolition complete, the king ordered each of his soldiers to take away a stone from the fort. Grianan of Aileach was reconstructed by Dr Bernard of Derry in 1870, but archaeologists are doubtful about the inner restoration. Surrounding the stone fort are three concentric low walls which formed part of the original fortification of the fort.

Free entry and good parking to this amazing ancient fort with its stunning views. I have visited it many times to take friends and family here and I never tire of the breathtaking views. It’s one not to be missed - providing the weather is good!

Stepping into a time capsule of the important history of Ireland, with a heart warming welcome, followed by a very comprehensive and often humorous guided tour, followed by as much time as one needs, to soak up the information, revisit the period scenes and read the wealth of wall charts........ just perfection. Situated in a staggeringly beautiful part of irelands Atlantic coastline, it really is everything one could wish for. It is very very different, and - for me - well worth the time to explore Ireland as it was, and for sure poses many questions. Afterwards, in the cafe situated in the car park, take time enjoying a cup of tea with a fresh scone whilst looking looking out over the bay. It really is something different. Expect to be surprised!

Ok people are saying its a bit of a drive, but what a drive. Stunning mountain scenery as you come out of Ardara and negotiate the roads/sheep/potholes. Port itself is stunning. Park up with a picnic and after take a hike up to the top past the old pier. Highly recommended.

We stopped at the view point and then drive down into.the valley. Great place for photograpgers. I took.many and they are some of The Westminster holiday.
