We were worried about travelling to Nicaragua due to safety concerns and everyone commenting it was too dangerous, however as soon as we got there we realised we had nothing to worry about and issues from last years crisis has long dissipated and it’s truly just a beautiful country. Hari’s is amazing we stayed with them for one night in a beautiful little house and had fresh fruit the next morning that was grown on the ranch. Hari took us on a horseback riding tour through the jungle and up to an amazing view of the whole island and volcanos. Having never rode a horse before I was amazing that Hari had us galloping within an hour. This was me and my wife’s favourite part of our trip to Nicaragua and will planning to return to this amazing place as soon as possible.

We did the 6 hour tour with guide Noel who was brilliant: enthusiastic, encouraging but very safety conscious and he had good English too. The 6 hour trip is definitely the way to go as you get more time in this lovely place and see another canyon. We hiked, swam, scrambled and jumped (last bit optional so you don't need to be very daring to go). It was fun and relaxing. It was my partner's 50th birthday and the company surprised him with a cake and a traditional birthday song. Everyone was so lovely and friendly. I cannot recommend this trip and this company enough. Go to Nicaragua (it's terrific) and do this trip. Thanks Somoto Canyon Tours team for making Graeme's birthday brilliant.

Cascada de San Ramon

Drove past the exit 3 time's as the signage isn't great. Once we found it we were very happy we didn't hike the whole way. The first part of the hike looked long and boring. We rented a quad and then hiked the rest. The was wasn't difficult, but it also wasn't easy. Take good shoes with you, and water. We stopped lots along the way and took our time to hangout in nature. The waterfall was beautiful and a lot bigger than I thought. You can take a quick dip, which I recommend. Bring a towel and snacks and enjoy.
