Kattang Nature Reserve

Reviewed By PhilMalone - Footscray, Australia

I would definitely recommend this varied walk through different varieties of vegetation with views that are spectacular at the end . There are also some good views along the way of the coastline (see my picture). It is not a difficult walk - we did it in 1 hour return. you would want to pick a clear day as the views will not be rewarding on a day with low clouds or drizzle.

A big stretch of sands offering multiple possibilities. You can just sit and relax, draw figures and sketches in the wet sand area with kids, hire and go on quad biking in the dunes, hire 'sun-board' and have the dry surfing fun or can just jump into the waters - the waves are enticing.

The Gap Park

When international director and closet ghoul Alfred Hitchcock visited Sydney in the sixties this was his infamous point of reference. Locals know, and tourists do not, that this is the last stop for the desperate few, it also a beautiful location for a spectacular scenic cliff top walk that begins at The Gap Park.

Excellent place to see sunrise. Can walk up (easy climb) to upper lookouts or can watch from the main lookout near the road. Very nice place to visit.

Mrs Macquarie's Chair

Located by the Royal Botanic Gardens, the bench known as Mrs. Macquarie's Chair was carved out of sandstone in the early 1800s for Govenor Lachlan Macquarie's wife, Elizabeth. It became her favorite spot to look upon the harbour and serves that same purpose today for visitors who take a moment to rest there.

Reviewed By hides_81 - Melbourne, Australia

With Sydney being more of a sunrise city with the Eastern facing beaches, good sunset spots can be harder to find. From Mrs Macquarie's point, looking towards the city, the sun will set behind the city and you have the harbour in front of you with the city skyline, opera house and harbour bridge all in view - awesome!
