Reviewed By 866TaylorB - Chicago, United States

If you travel as much as we do, you probably take notice of the best restaurants, best hotels, best bars and best museums. How about best bathrooms? The John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, has the distinction of providing the only award-winning bathrooms you likely ever will experience. Located at 608 New York Avenue, the museum is unique, different, one-of-a-kind, weird. View the galleries, gardens and art exhibits, things you've never seen before, like Scott Reeder's B-Side of the Moon or Moon World and Dr. Charles Smith's collection on slavery. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the center was opened in 1967 and was expanded to 100,000 square feet in 2000. It also contains the original homestead of John Michael Kohler, founder of the Kohler Company, one of the 50 largest private companies in the world which produces bathroom and kitchen fixtures and generators. The center contains 10 galleries, a theater, performance and meeting places, classrooms, gift shop and cafe. But it is widely known for its six artist-created public toilets, which are listed among the world's best by Travel & Leisure and included in Cintas' America's Best Restroom Hall of Fame. In fact, the washrooms are the only public spaces where permanently installed works of art are to be seen. So be sure to go to a bathroom--even if you don't have to go. it may be your only opportunity to find a hand-painted message inside a toilet bowl.

Victorian Chocolate Shoppe

Reviewed By melmsmith7 - Milwaukee, United States

We stopped in after breakfast on the way to door county, and they had a ton of great things at reasonable prices! I loaded up on goodies to bring home for my whole family, and of course myself :) They had this candy that looked like rocks, but was chocolate. I bought it for my son and he loved it! The lady working there was really nice...I dropped the bag of rocks and it broke. I said I would pay for it since it was my fault, but she said it was no problem and did not charge me. As i figured, the prices were better than the prices in the door county confectionaries :)

Acuity Flagpole

The flagpole and memorial can be visited at any time. Flag Facts: 70- by 140-foot flag is the world's largest free-flying American flag. Tallest flagpole in North America--nearly 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. 400-foot flagpole weighs approximately 420,000 pounds. Over 500 gallons of paint cover the pole. 11-foot diameter at base tapers to 5 1/2-foot diameter at top. Three pendulum-style tuned mass dampers reduce movement and vibration. Designed to withstand a low temperature of -42 degrees Fahrenheit. The 9,800-square-foot flag, which weighs 340 pounds, is more than four times the size of the average U.S. home. Each star is nearly 3 feet across and each stripe is over 5 feet high. Acuity is proud to dedicate the Veterans memorial at the base to all who assure our freedom and to those that continue to serve. We owe our gratitude and thanks for their service and sacrifice. There are more than 750 inscribed pavers at the base of the pole that list the names of every Sheboygan County Veteran killed in the line of duty. A full list of names along with a map with the location of each can be found in a free handout at the base of the flagpole. The flag may be taken down temporarily during times of maintenance (please check our website) or severe weather. The flag will be lowered to half staff during official observances.

Every time I drive by this proud and beautifu flag flying in front of the Acuity Insurance building, I get a sense of pride and love for our country. When it is unfurling in the breeze, this huge flag is a sight to see and can be seen for a long distance. Take notice anytime you are driving down I-43 in Sheboygan. You can't miss it and will drive away with a sense of pride.

We loved our experience at 3 Sheeps Brewing Company. Bartenders were wonderful and the beer was great. Nice open space to hang out with family and friends. I can't wait to visit on a warm day. Fun map to see where everyone is coming from and you can even buy a beer for a friend on a future visit. How cool is that!! There is also a game room to have some fun.
