Calais Beach

Reviewed By Drew040874 - London, United Kingdom

We visited on a glorious summers day and spent the whole day on the beach. They have done a brilliant job in renovating the area. The beach is clean with very attentive life guards. The facilities are clean and tidy and plenty of places to get snacks or something more formal, there are restaurants are close by. First time swimming in the English Channel. Was fun watching all the ferries coming and going to and from Dover. The ferries don’t disrupt your visit to the beach. Free all day parking. Something the UK seaside towns needs to do! Can’t wait to go back.

Cathedrale Saint-Pierre

Reviewed By 305carab - San Antonio, United States

The cathedral is a gorgeous example of beautiful gothic architecture...the stain glass alone makes the cathedral worth a visit. Make sure to do a lap around the outside of the cathedral as well, there’s some really neat old timey buildings and homes around the backside! It looks like the cathedral is undergoing some renovations on the inside and along the outside a bit as well, so just a heads up on that. But definitely recommend.

While the monument is impressive, the visitor center/museum is the treasure on this stop. It provides excellent descriptions of what happened in this area during the Great War. Plan at least an hour in the visitors center.
