Highly recommend a visit to this vineyard tucked away in the Vale of Glamorgan. A very friendly family run enterprise offering an interesting tour around the vine fields and an even better home cooked lunch with samples of their very pleasant wines. The family are clearly, quite rightly, very proud of their wines and are more than willing to chat about their history and experiences.

Fabulous couple of hours spent learning not only about the wine, but the personal story and passion behind the business. Probably the warmest, most genuine, personal ‘guided tour’ we have been on, delivered by Rob who is not only incredibly knowledgable but fun, friendly, full of anecdotes and stories and happy to share his knowledge. We spent time wandering through the vines tasting the different types of grape (we were lucky to visit just before harvesting time), followed by a relaxed and informative wine tasting - 4 types of wine to test with Rob guiding us through each one. They were all fantastic. There is absolutely no pushy selling at all, but of course you fall a little bit in love with the place and wanting to take a little bit of the magic away with us, we came away with a box of wine which we will enjoy along with the memories. Highly recommended way to pass a couple of hours

The Marches Delicatessen

Located in the beautiful market town of Abergavenny, The Marches Delicatessen showcases a selection of fine cheese, charcuterie and local artisan foods from across Wales and The Marches region. The majority of our food is sourced directly from producers. This allows us to see first-hand the passion and dedication which goes into making the exceptional produce we sell.

When we moved to Abergavenny this shop was a wonderful find. The range of cheeses from Wales and the Marches region was extensive and the other items in the shop, from biscuits and chutneys to bread, charcuterie and olives, to gin and beers was really comprehensive. It came as a shock, though maybe not a total surprise, when the shop closed as of January 1st this year. There's still the branch in Monmouth, which has the added plus of a café which also serves light lunches ... a bit of a journey but well worthwhile now and again.

We stumbled across this little bar whilst on a walk and dropped in for a pint. It was a marvellously quirky place with friendly staff, really tasty and unusual beer and lots of games like connect 4 scattered around. Would certainly recommend.

Meet the distillers & see how the gin is created right in front of your very eyes from mixing the botanicals to it being bottled in the bottling room where it's then shipped all over the world... PLUS, get a taste of Cygnet too!

We took the distillery tour and then did a tasting, followed by a delicious meal. Doug was a great guide and even though they were incredibly busy preparing shipments for Christmas, he took the time to explain everything to us in detail. The tasting was fantastic; it was so interesting to see how different tonics and garnishes changed the character of the drink. The tour was topped off with a great lunch at the restaurant and a perfect serve G&T. I highly recommend this Masterclass, and of course buying a bottle of Cygnet gin to take away with you!

There's so much to see and do in the area. We went cycling in the forest of Dean and canoeing down the River Wye. All booked last minute and the cabin was really cosy to come back to.
