Sliabh Liag Distillers

The An Dúlamán Disillery is an artisanal gin distillery set in the shadow of Sliabh Liag using locally foraged seaweed in its unique An Dúlamán Irish Maritime Gin. The tour is of a working craft distillery and tells the tale of the whiskey distillery to come and of the ingredients and process of making An Dúlamán, Irish Maritime Gin. Sliabh Liag Distillers have set out to reclaim the once proud distilling heritage of Donegal and relate the history, stories and culture of this Gaeltacht area and initially at least do this through the An Dúlamán Gin Distillery. The Tour sets out the three stages of the development of Sliabh Liag Distillers: 1. The development and launch of The Silkie 2. The development commissioning and launch of An Dúlamán Irish Maritime Gin 3. The building and commissioning of the Sliabh Liag Whiskey Distillery. Tours are available Mon-Sat at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm, costs €10 per person and lasts just under an hour. Booking is advised.

My family stopped in for a tour of your distillery on one on March 3, 2020. We were passing through on holiday having just had lunch in Killibegs heading to our rental in Glencolumbkille. We'd stopped at Fintra Beach. My daughter who has guided other tours to Ireland from our home, Wisconsin, USA, said seaweed like we saw that day while exploring the beach was gathered and used to make gin at your distillery. I'm a whiskey drinker and home wine maker and wasn't keen on stopping for a tour of a gin distillery. She pressed her dad and we went anyway thank the Lord and daughter Margaret. Our guide was Sean. He was marvelous and was patient with my annoying questions. He gets five stars from this old curmudgeon. Gin making is an unknown science to me, never mind Tanqueray gives me a headache. However, you've distilled in me an affection and taste for your An Dulaman. If ever I get my hands on another bottle, I'll sip to savor the pleasant memory, friendly confines of your distillery, and I'll be walking again on Fintas Beach. Thanks for the most wonderful experience which we enjoyed in time to get home before the current travel ban. Please accept my best wishes for success moving forward with your larger still. Good luck.
